10:00 AM

Tsurugaoka Hachimangu

Tsurugaoka Hachimangu, relocated and expanded by Minamoto no Yoritomo, the first shogun, in 1180, is the most important shrine in Kamakura and the spiritual heart of the samurai era. In spring, cherry blossoms bloom along the Dankazura approach, and in summer, the Genpei-ike ponds fill with pink and white lotus. In the spacious grounds, I will share trivia and stories from its long history. If you are lucky, you may also see a traditional wedding or children in pretty kimonos—living proof that these traditions are still alive today, giving you a chance to feel closer to Japan’s history and traditions.

Upon request, some stops on the itinerary can be replaced with places such as Hōkoku-ji, famous for its beautiful bamboo grove.

11:30 AM

Great Buddha (Kōtoku-in Temple)

Let’s meet the iconic Great Buddha of Kamakura—an enormous yet graceful bronze statue that has been peacefully meditating under the open sky since the 13th century. We can also step inside the statue to experience its unique interior and learn more about the mystery of its construction.

12:30 PM

Lunch

There are many dining options to choose from, including delicious shojin curry at a temple overlooking the ocean, tempura and soba, okonomiyaki, shirasu (whitebait), and fresh seafood, as well as Italian cuisine. I would be happy to suggest the best spots based on your preferences.

01:30 PM

Hasedera templea – Kamakura’s Temple of Flowers

Hase-dera, a historic temple said to have been founded in the 8th century, is known as the “Temple of Flowers.” The grounds feature well-tended gardens and charming small Jizo statues, and from its hillside terrace, you can enjoy sweeping views of Kamakura and the sea. In the main hall stands the majestic Eleven-Headed Kannon statue, adding to the temple’s spiritual presence. The temple is beautiful year-round, but from late May to June, it becomes especially stunning, when about 40 varieties and over 2,500 hydrangeas burst into color along the paths.

To reach the Main Hall (Kannon-do), there are about 100 to 120 steps from the entrance. If you continue to the Prospect Path (Hydrangea Path, especially in June) located behind the temple, please note there are an additional 130 steps

Be sure to take lots of photos!

02:30 PM

Around Hase Level Crossing

Located just a short walk from Hase-dera (near the "Tanaka Barber Shop"), this specific railroad crossing is one of the most memorable locations in the series.

This is where the two characters wander through the narrow streets in search of a restaurant. Fans will vividly remember the poignant cut where the Enoden train passes by, and as it clears the tracks, Ho-jin has mysteriously vanished from sight.

(Please note that photography is not allowed around this railroad crossing out of respect for the local neighborhood.)

02:50 PM

Goryo Shrine

Goryo Shrine holds a special place in the drama as the location where Mu-jin returns the smartphone to Ho-jin. Founded in the late Heian period, this historic shrine is dedicated to the legendary warrior Kamakura Gongoro Kagemasa.

The most iconic feature here is the breathtaking sight of the Enoden train passing just inches away from the shrine's white stone torii gate. With trains running every 10 to 15 minutes, it is one of the best spots to capture Kamakura’s unique atmosphere. In early summer, the scene is further enhanced by blooming hydrangeas, creating a stunning "triple harmony" of the train, the gate, and the flowers.

03:20 PM

Gokurakuji Station

Gokurakuji Station is the backdrop for the story of Mu-hui and Ho-jin. The poignant scene of the two passing each other — both inside the Enoden train and on the station platform — serves as a beautiful foreshadowing of their journey ahead.

Opened in 1904, this charming wooden station was selected as one of the "Top 100 Stations in the Kanto Region" in 1999. Surrounded by lush mountains and greenery, its tranquil atmosphere has made it a favorite filming location for numerous films and dramas over the

04:00 PM

Inamuragasaki Park

Inamuragasaki Park offers one of the most breathtaking panoramas in Japan. This is the scenic stage where the character Ji-seon gives an amulet (omamori) to Ho-jin—a heartfelt gesture set against a stunning backdrop. Recognized as one of the "Top 100 Historical Parks in Japan," it is famous for allowing you to capture Mt. Fuji and Enoshima in a single frame. As the sun begins to set, the silhouette of the majestic mountain emerges, and the white waves of Shichirigahama glisten below, creating a romantic atmosphere that has captivated film directors for decades.

About Tour Guide Yacco M.

Hi, I’m Yacco, a friendly and passionate local guide. I was born and raised in Shizuoka and have lived in Yokohama for over 30 years. For the past several years, I’ve been guiding international visitors in Kamakura, Yokohama, and Tokyo as a volunteer, helping them discover the rich history, culture, and hidden charm of these unique cities.

Traveling abroad creates once-in-a-lifetime memories, and I would love for you to fully experience the beauty and spirit of my favorite towns.

I not only enjoy showing historical and modern landmarks, but also love introducing quiet backstreets, seasonal flowers, cozy cafés, and delicious local food that reflect the charm of everyday life. What I enjoy most is comparing Japanese traditions with my guests’ own cultures and histories—these conversations often lead to deep and inspiring exchanges.

As your guide, I’m happy to customize tours based on your interests, whether you’re seeking unique experiences, historical insights, or local flavors. Let’s walk, talk, and create unforgettable memories together!

Wonderful day

I had a wonderful day with Yacco, my guide. it was a fascinating tour. She was very flexible with the set itinerary, adding a stop at a museum without cutting out the planned stops. Gave valuable information on how to navigate the various transit systems. (Train, subway and buses). We also had a great lunch at a local eatery. Yacco is very nice, kind and knowledgeable. I truly enjoyed our day.

Thank you so much for your kind review, Michel! The moss garden after the rain was absolutely beautiful, wasn’t it? Visiting the Kamakura Museum of History and Culture was a wonderful addition to our day. Thanks to your request, I had the chance to explore it with you, and it became a truly special experience for me as well. I really enjoyed our conversations and the time we spent together—it was truly memorable. I hope you will visit Japan again someday! Have a fantastic cruise, and all the best on your journey! Yacco
