“Very Flexible Guide”

Our group was hoping for a different itinerary, after having several days of visiting wonderful shrines and temples in several other ports. Hiroshi arranged for the group to experience the making of Washi paper, a very traditional Japanese tradition. While the paper was drying at the shop, the group did some local touring and eating, which everyone enjoyed. Hiroshi speaks excellent English and made our day fun and memorable.

“A Fantastic Day in Kochi with Hiroshi—Local Flavors and Thoughtful Extras!”

We had a wonderful day exploring Kochi with Hiroshi! We hired him with a car service, which made traveling between sights comfortable and easy and allowed us to experience so much in one day. He was knowledgeable, easy to understand, and shared interesting information about Kochi, its history, and local culture throughout our tour. We explored Ryugado Cave, a beautiful limestone cave and a welcome cool break from the heat. At Tosa Tsubohachiya, we saw knives hand-forged by local craftsmen. We also visited Kochi Castle, one of Japan’s few original castles, where we climbed the steep stairs all the way to the top! A particular highlight was Hirome Market. Hiroshi’s authentic food recommendations made lunch an experience we will always remember. We enjoyed crispy Yasubei gyoza, Tosa wagyu, seared bonito with salt and with sauce, bonito sashimi, aosa nori tempura, and fresh fruit. We also sampled local Keigetsu sake. It was an incredible introduction to Kochi’s local flavors, and we appreciated having his guidance on what to try. An especially thoughtful touch was that Hiroshi brought a professional camera and photographed our group throughout the day. He shared a Google photo album with us that same day! It was incredibly generous and so nice to have beautiful memories with all of us in the pictures. Hiroshi made our day enjoyable, informative, and memorable. The combination of fascinating sights, delicious local food, comfortable transportation, and his thoughtful approach made this a wonderful tour. We’re so glad we hired him and would highly recommend him to anyone visiting Kochi!

Thank you so much for this wonderful review! It was a real pleasure to spend the day with your group of five. September in Kochi can still be very hot, so I am glad Ryugado Cave was a nice cool start to the day. It was also great to see you all climb the steep stairs to the top of Kochi Castle. The view from there is always worth it! Hirome Market is one of my favorite places to share with guests. Katsuo no tataki with salt and with sauce, Yasubei gyoza, Tosa wagyu, and local sake are all things I really want visitors to try. I am happy the food became such a special memory for you. Taking photos during the tour is my small gift to every guest. I want you to enjoy the moment without worrying about the camera, and I am glad you liked having everyone in the pictures together. “Excellent tour guide & driver for our small group Cruise ship day tour of Kochi”

We had a wonderful day with Hiroshi. He is an amazing guide and driver with excellent communication skills. He made suggestions to create wonderful itinerary based on our desired sights to see and getting us back to the cruise ship terminal on time. He is very kind, patient and imparted lots of cultural history & knowledge to us throughout our tour. He made excellent suggestions for our request for a traditional Kochi Japanese lunch and it was delicious. The comfortable air-conditioned car was a very welcomed respite in between driving to the various sites. He provided water and umbrellas for our use which was really appreciated. Hiroshi also took many lovely photos of us throughout the tour so my husband and I look like we are on vacation together! I would highly recommend taking any tour with Hiroshi and we certainly will if we are lucky enough to come back to the beautiful Kochi. Thanks Hiroshi :)))

Thank you so much for this review, and for a really fun day. You told me clearly what you wanted to see, so we could build the day around it, and I always feel happy when we finish with time to spare before the ship leaves. September in Kochi is still hot, so I am glad the cold water and the cool car helped between the stops. Ringing the bell at Chikurinji and standing in front of the ocean at Katsurahama were my favourite moments too. I am glad you liked the lunch at Hirome Market. Katsuo no tataki is what we are most proud of here, and it is always fun to watch guests try it for the first time. Talking about Sakamoto Ryoma and Itagaki Taisuke with you was a pleasure as well, because Kochi is a small place with a surprisingly big story. And I hope the photos give you both a nice memory of the day. Please come back to Kochi someday, there is still a lot I want to show you. Hiroshi
