Meeting Point

JR Kyoto Station or your hotel

- JR Kyoto Station (Kyoto Tourist Information Center, Kyo Navi) JR Kyoto Station is very big and Kyoto Tourist Information Center is good place to meet. This is within 3 minutes' walk from Central Gate of Shinkansen Kyoto Station and 1 minute of West Gate (2nd floor) of local lines.

We go to Nijyojo Castle by bus

Nijyojo Castle (Entrance : JY1,300/adult for Ninomarugoten Palace)

This castle was built about 400 years ago and remains intact, although many castles burned down in the fire. This castle was the residence of Shogun, while he stays in Kyoto. The highlight of this castle is Ninomarugoten Palace (gorgeous guesthouse) containing beautiful paintings, excellent openwork carvings and stunning ornaments and beautiful Japanese garden called Ninomaru Teien.

We go to Golden (Kinkakuji) Temple by bus.

Golden (Kinkakuji) Temple (Admission : JY500/adult)

This temple was built by the powerful shogun to receive guests about 650 years ago. Gold is the symbol of power and wealth.

He must have shown his power and wealth to his guests.

The glittering building floating on the pond is really splendid.

We go to bamboo forest by bus & train with transfer.

Bamboo Forest (Admission : Free)

Bamboos are growing naturally for a long time.

There are many products made of bamboo in Japan, such as bamboo fences and tea whisks etc. Japanese like the texture of bamboo.

Also, Japanese like bamboo shoots very much. They are integral item in the side menu of Japanese style food.

We walk to Okochi Villa by walk.

Okochi Villa (admission : JY1,000/adult)

Okochi is the name of famous actor of Samurai Drama, who built this villa here in this scenic place.

He was particular about the Japanese style for both buildings and garden.

There are traditional style 3 buildings and big Japanesse style stroll-garden.

We can enjoy walking around this beautiful garden and there is an obvervatory commanding the panoramic view of Kyoto City.

We go to Tenryuji Temple by walk.

Tenryuji Temple (Admission for garden : JY500/adult)

This temple was built about 700 years ago by the shogun to pray for the dead emperor. This is famous Zen temple and the garden of this temple was built by the distinguished Zen Master. This garden is the World Heritage Site.

We go to Arashiyama Monkey Park by walk.

Arashiyama Monkey Park (Adission : JY500/adult)

Arashiyama Monkey Park is located about 160 meters ( about 500 feet) high,

It will take about 15 to 20 minutes to walk up. There are about 100 wild monkeys here. It is very enjoyable to feed them.

We go back to JR Kyoto Station by JR.

Hello, I am Haruhiko.

I was born in the year 1957 in Hyogo and was brought up there before entering the university.

I graduated from university in Osaka. After graduating the university, I worked as international sales people for about 45 years.

My job was to go to foreign countries and sell our products to foreign customers.

I went to about 20 countiries about 200 times.

Throught these business trips, I talked much with lots of foreign people not only about business matters but also private and other matters. I have found it will make my experiences wider and make my knolwdge deeperto talk with people with different culture, hisotry and backgound.

My hobby is to go to Buddhism temples, Shinto Shrines & Castles and to learn about culture & history of this country. I began to think that how it is interesting to introduce them to foreign people.

I got the License of Guide Interpreter (English) and began to guide in the year 2022.

My favorite area of guide is Kansai area such as Kyoto, Nara Osaka & Hyogo.

I have guided these areas about 500 times.
