Itinerary

Meeting Point
Meet at Hankyu Arashiyama Station/ Jr Arashiyama Station.
- Gather at the station exit; meet your guide and receive a brief introduction.
Togetsukyo Bridge
This iconic bridge has been a symbol of Arashiyama for over 1,300 years.
Originally built during the Heian period, it was named “Moon Crossing Bridge” because the reflection of the moon on the river looked like a path across the water.
Fun fact: In spring, the surrounding cherry blossoms create a dreamy pink tunnel, while in autumn the red and gold maple leaves create a picturesque scene.
Tenryū‑ji Temple – Zen Garden & UNESCO Heritage
A UNESCO World Heritage Site, founded in 1339 by the shogun Ashikaga Takauji in honor of Emperor Go-Daigo.
The Sōgenchi Garden, designed over 600 years ago, features a central pond, carefully arranged rocks, and seasonal foliage that reflects in the water—a perfect example of Japanese garden aesthetics.
Fun fact: Tenryū‑ji is a Zen temple, and the name means “Heavenly Dragon Temple,” inspired by legends of dragons appearing in the nearby mountains.
Sagano Bamboo Grove – Walk Among Giants
One of Kyoto’s most magical natural spots, with tall bamboo stalks swaying in the wind, creating a unique “bamboo cathedral” effect.
Fun fact: The sound of wind rustling through the bamboo is considered so beautiful that it’s registered as one of Japan’s 100 Soundscapes.
The grove has inspired countless Japanese paintings, films, and Instagram-worthy photos!
Adashino Nenbutsu‑ji Temple – Thousands of Stone Buddhas
A peaceful temple founded in 838 AD, famous for its thousands of stone Buddha statues commemorating the deceased.
Fun fact: Many statues were originally scattered around Arashiyama and later collected here to create this hauntingly beautiful memorial.
The quiet paths through bamboo and mossy stones create a reflective and serene atmosphere, a perfect contrast to the bustling bridge and bamboo grove.
Ending Point
Return to Hankyu/ JR Arashiyama Station Optional leisure walk back.

A Local Friend in Kansai — Meet Atif
Hey there! I’m Atif, a travel lover who’s been calling Osaka home for the past few years. What started as a curious adventure quickly turned into a deep love for this region — the food, the people, and all the little hidden corners that make Kansai so special.
Now, I spend my days sharing those discoveries with travelers who want to see the real Japan — not just the postcard version.
What I Offer
Fun & Flexible Tours: No boring scripts here! I plan each tour around you — whether you love taking photos, tasting street food, exploring quiet temples, or getting lost in neon-lit backstreets.
Local Secrets: After years of wandering Osaka, Kyoto, Nara, and Kobe, I’ve found the best hidden gems — from tiny noodle shops to peaceful gardens and back-alley shrines.
Laughs & Memories: My tours aren’t just about facts — they’re about fun. Expect stories, local legends, and maybe even a karaoke challenge (if you’re brave enough)!
Why Travel with Me
Because travel should feel like exploring with a local friend, not following a flag in a crowd. I love good food, spontaneous detours, and showing people the Kansai that most tourists miss. Whether it’s your first visit or your fifth, I’ll make sure you experience something new — and unforgettable.
Let’s Start the Adventure!
Ready to explore Osaka, Kyoto, Nara, or Kobe?

“A Whirlwind Tour of Osaka”
We enjoyed our tour with Atif. He kindly offered to meet us at our cruise port in Kobe to help us navigate the trains to Osaka. We had a lot of things pre-planned that we wanted to see and Atif managed to make it work. We especially enjoyed seeing both the old and new entertainment districts and the markets. We appreciated his insight into popular foods, products and pastimes of locals. Our lunch at a restaurant frequented by locals was delicious. On the one hand it would have been nice to have had a bit more time in some places, but on the other hand, we covered a lot of ground, literally, so be prepared to walk about 20,000 steps! Thanks for the great day Atif!
