About Tour Guide Koichi W.
Hi! I'm Koichi. I was born in Osaka, I studied in Kyoto when I was a university student. Now I live in Shiga next to Kyoto. I am a national government licensed tour guide. I have been guiding about 160 groups over the past twelve months.
I usually guide my customers mainly in Kansai region including Kyoto, Nara, Osaka, Kobe and Shiga by public transportation systems.
Well, I am curious about Japanese history, especially the history of Japan's ancient times since I was raised next to the world biggest mausoleum of the ancient Emperor called "Nintoku" in Sakai city Osaka which has just become one of the world cultural heritage sites. I dug out some ancient earthen ware vessels around there when I was a primary school student like the adventure archaeologist “Indiana Jones" (It’s our secret!!). That was my hobby. Now, one of my hobbies is outdoor activities such as mountaineering, kayaking, skiing and others. So I would like to take you to some good places where you can enjoy Japanese unique nature.
I love to guide foreign visitors from all over the world. I think it is my calling or heavenly given job. Let's go and enjoy together! I hope to see you soon.

“Kyoto Shrines and Temples”
Thank you so much to Koichi for showing us around Kyoto. Koichi’s knowledge, kindness, and passion for the city made our visit truly special. We saw and learned so much more than we ever could have on our own. We would highly recommend Koichi to anyone visiting Kyoto.

Thank you for givinig me such a nice rating and wonderful comments. Looking through the photos taken during the tour. I found myself reminiscing fondly about events from just a few days ago. You seemed to really enjoy interacting with the deer in Nara Park. Seeing that made me so happy too. I hope we have another chance to meet. Next time, please come visit my hometown, Otsu.

“Fantastic Tours with Koichi”
Koichi is the best! We had two custom day tours with Koichi as a group of 7, one of Kyoto and the other Nara and Osaka. He is very kind, funny and good with kids. He has a lot of historical knowledge of the famous sites, brought along printed materials to show us to help us understand the history and culture of the various locations. He was very well prepared!! Our kids under 10 enjoyed his company and were not afraid to ask him many questions. I felt like he went the extra mile to accommodate our requests and the many many toilet stops for the kids. I would not hesitate to recommend Koichi to all our friends and family visiting Kyoto or Osaka. 10 out of 10!

Hi! Tim san, thank you for your wonderful review and comments. The two days spent with your family and your friend's family were truly enjoyable for me. I also appreciate your cooperation with the playful "mischief" meant to entertain your children. Please keep in touch! I look forward to the days you visit Japan and Kyoto again. Koichi

“Great day in Osaka”
We recently visited Osaka for the first time. We explored the city with Koichi-san. Our itinerary included many highlights including Osaka Castle, Shin sekai, Dotonburi, and more! Koichi-san provided great details about each sight, and took great pictures of us! It was great chatting all day and learning about Osaka from someone who lived there! I recommend Koichi-san for a fun and informative tour!

There are so many great places in Kyoto that you probably want to visit but perhaps not enough time. It is best to have a local person guiding you to come up with a plan that suits your preference. I can create a tour with you which includes not only popular places like the Golden Pavilion and Fushimi Inari but small temples with wabi sabi such as those in Sagano and one of the oldest Japanese sweets shops in Murasakino.
