This tour is a Day-Trip from Kyoto to explores the story of Japan's Jewish community, placing into context the interactions between cultures.
During the tour, you will be joined by two guides, a professor of International Law at a nearby public university and a PhD candidate in the humanities.
During the tour, we will particularly focus on the community rescued by Imperial Japanese ambassador Chiune Sugihara, awarded Righteous Among the Nations for his actions during the Second World War.

Kyoto Station
- On this Kyoto day-trip we will meet at Kyoto Station, taking a JR West Limited Express for 1 hour and 15 minutes to Tsuruga.
Tsuruga Station
Arrival time at Tsuruga Station
Port of Humanity
We will visit the Port of Humanity, and its associated museum, the point of disembarkation for Jewish refugees fleeing Europe.
Chiune Sugihara Memorial Hall
We will also visit the Chiune Sugihara Memorial Hall, telling the story of Imperial Japanese ambassador Chiune Sugihara who was instrumental in saving countless Jews from the horrors of the holocaust.

The tour price includes the guiding fee for two guides who will accompany you on this tour.
Not included in the tour fee is the train tickets to and from Tsuruga. Also not included is the museum entry tickets, nor is lunch included.
This tour is a solemn experience and therefore perhaps not suited to young children.
I can guide you in other areas around Kansai as well, such as Kobe or Wakayama, if you pay my transportation fee.

“Off the beaten path”
We traveled aß a family of three, first time to Kyoto. Eco responded to every question I had very quick. We met at the hotel and went for a four hour walk through Tokio, as requested throu parts of Kyoto that are not so crowded. Eco was very knowledgable, friendly and very flexible during the tour. He gave us a lot of Tips for our stay in Kyoto. We had a wonderful time off the beaten path im Kyoto.
