Thank you so much for the truly wonderful feedback. I really enjoyed it! I'm so glad the guests had a unique experience in Kyoto.

A five star experience

We spent a wonderful day with Robert in Kyoto. As a teacher of Japanese who has lived in Japan for four years, he is extremely knowledgable about life and culture in Japan. The tempo of the walk was very agreeable. We started at the Higashi Honganji, the Eastern temple, and were given an interesting tour that enhanced our understanding of Japanese worship and outlook on life. We continued to the Shosei-en garden, a true island of tranquility in a bustling city. While strolling through the gardens we learned all about Tea houses and their importance for Japanese culture. We continued to Nishiki market, where we could sample lots of interesting foods while learning about the market`s importance. The last part of the tour was focused on the Gion District, Geisha culture and the wonderful Shinto Yasaka shrine. On the way we talked about all aspects of Japanese life - from employment rules, the school system, health insurance, politics, family matters or art. We feel that the day really heightened our understanding of Kyoto and Japan. Not only is Robert an excellent guide, he is also a pleasant person to spend a day with. A five star experience, recommended to all.

I would like to say a huge thank you for the lovely review. I really did have a wonderful time and I so hope we will meet again sometime in the future. I hope you have a wonderful rest of your stay in Japan!

Positive Review for Robert K. for Kyoto Private Tour

We thoroughly enjoyed the tour with Robert. Thanks to his Japanese studies, he had far more knowledge than other local guides we booked on our trip to Japan. The tour offered a great mix of experiences, often taking us off the beaten path (a quiet Japanese garden, small temples, markets, and specialized shops selling things like fans). It was excellent, stress-free, and provided great insights into the country and its people! Note: For tourist hotspots like Kyoto Castle, the Imperial Palace, and the Thousand Gates, you should definitely plan a separate day in Kyoto. However, it's manageable, as there are plenty of signs with explanations.
