Kinkakuji Temple/ Golden Pavilion
Kinkaku-ji, also known as the Golden Pavilion, is a famous Zen Buddhist temple in Kyoto, Japan. Originally built in 1397 as a retirement villa for shogun Ashikaga Yoshimitsu, it later became a temple. The top two floors are covered in gold leaf, and it is beautifully set beside a reflective pond, creating a striking scene that attracts many visitors. Kinkaku-ji is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Kyoto’s most iconic landmarks.

Yasaka Jinja
Yasaka Jinja, also known as Yasaka Shrine, is a famous Shinto shrine located in Kyoto, Japan, near the Gion district. Founded over 1,350 years ago, it is dedicated to the deities of health and prosperity. The shrine is well-known for hosting the Gion Matsuri, one of Japan's most famous festivals, held every July. With its iconic bright red gates, traditional architecture, and lantern-lit grounds, Yasaka Jinja is a popular destination for both spiritual visits and cultural experiences.
Ninenzaka/ Sanenzaka
Ninenzaka (二年坂)
Ninenzaka, meaning "Two-Year Slope," is a gently sloping, stone-paved street in Kyoto’s Higashiyama district, near Kiyomizu-dera Temple. Lined with traditional wooden buildings, it’s a scenic spot filled with cafes, souvenir shops, and local crafts. It's a beautiful place to experience Kyoto's historic charm.
Sanenzaka (産寧坂)
Sanenzaka, or "Three-Year Slope," is the continuation of Ninenzaka and is slightly steeper. It shares the same traditional atmosphere and is also lined with historic shops and eateries. According to local legend, tripping here might bring bad luck for three years—so walk carefully!
Kiyomizu-Dera
Kiyomizu-dera is one of Kyoto’s most famous and historic Buddhist temples, founded in 778 AD. It is best known for its large wooden stage that juts out from the main hall, offering stunning views of the cherry blossoms in spring and autumn foliage. The temple’s name means “Pure Water Temple”, derived from the nearby Otowa Waterfall, where visitors drink for health, longevity, and success. Kiyomizu-dera is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a must-visit for its spiritual, cultural, and scenic appeal.
Fushimi Inari Taisha
Fushimi Inari Taisha is a famous Shinto shrine in Kyoto, Japan, dedicated to Inari, the deity of rice, prosperity, and business. It is best known for its thousands of bright red torii gates that form winding paths up Mount Inari. Founded in the 8th century, the shrine is a popular spot for both worshippers and tourists. Along the trails, you'll also find many fox statues, which are considered Inari's messengers. Fushimi Inari offers a unique spiritual experience and some of the most iconic photo spots in Japan.
