NijyoCastle, time slip to Edo period
The castle is located in the center of Kyoto city and designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1994. It was originally built in 1603 as the official Kyoto residence of the first Tokugawa Shogun,Ieyasu. Nijo Caslte is one of the finest examples of early Edo period and Momoyama culture in Japan, as it makes splendid use of early Edo period building designs, lavish paintings, and carvings that Iemitsu generously commissioned. In 1867, when Yoshinobu, the fifteenth Tokugawa Shogun returned soverignty to the Emperor, the caslte became the property of the Imperial family. Inside Ninomaru Palace Yoshinobu summoned the coultry's feudal lords and declared that soverignty would be restored to the Emperor. There are two Japanese gardens. You can enjoy the bearutiful scenary.

“Highlights of Kyoto”
We spent a wonderful half day with Toshiyo starting with the visit of the great garden of the Katsura Imperial Villa, which is only possible by reservation in advance. Afterwards, to avoid the touristic crowds we went to the Kamigamo and the Shimogamo shrine being lucky to see many Japanese families celebrating the Shichi go san for their kids. We have appreciated Toshiyo’s excellent knowledge of Japanese culture. Her sound explanations were of upmost interest for us. Thank you, Toshiyo!

“very nice tour”
The best part was that Toshiyo offered to do the tour with her car (we paid parking and gas) which made the tour so much easier and faster and we could see more in less time. very recommended. The tour was informative with history but we missed some current japan information in addition or some cool facts and stories. In general was a good tour.

One day tour From Gion to the Nishiki Market
Kyoto is an ancient city, which used to like be the capital of Japan for 1000 years. There are about 1600 temples and 400 shrines and beautiful gardens. It also has a lot of traditional crafts, such as kimono, fans, Japanese artistic sweets. There are a lot of things to do and experience. First of all I will take you to Gion area.I will take you to Yasaka Shrine and Kenninji Temple. Then let's move to the Nishiki market. and have sushi lunch in the market. Gion is the area of entertainment, where there are many bars and taverns. Some important business and political talks have been conducted. You may run across Maiko and Geiko, Japanese entertainers in kimono. If you want to wear Japanese costume in Gion, I can arrange with extra charge. NIshiki market is the kitchen of the Kyoro, where local people buy their everyday food. Fish stores, vegetable stores, pickles stores and so on. A friend of mine owns a Yuba shop in the market. Yuba is vegan, dairy-free ,gluten free,preserve-free, additive-free and protein rich. You can see the yuba making process.

I can create a tour with you which includes not only popular places like the Golden Pavilion and Fushimi Inari but small temples with wabi sabi such as those in Sagano and one of the oldest Japanese sweets shops in Murasakino.
