Yumomi Performance
Yumomi is a traditional ceremony performed in Netsu no yu, near Kusatsu’s central Yubatake in Gunma prefecture, in the north-west of the Kanto area. This short show is paced on an old Japanese song and consists in cooling down the piping hot spring water to a temperature suitable for bathing.
Stroll Around Kusatsu and Eat Street Food
You can enjoy walking in Kusatsu area. There are Ryokan inns dot this quaint area, which retains an authentic Japanese atmosphere. At the town's center is the Yubatake, its spring source, which emits large quantities of steaming hot, mineral-rich water.
Also, enjoy street foods such as famous Onsen Manju(small buns) and Onsen eggs.
Scenic Springs
We will first stroll along Sainokawara Street towards Sainokawara Park, just a 10-minute walk from the town center. The street is lined with restaurants, craft ateliers, and sweet shops selling onsen manju, a sweet bun filled with bean paste. Try not to fill up on all the free samples on the way.
The park, set by a river, is marked by rising steam and the sound of trickling water. Explore its pools of hot spring water, some of which are warm enough to soak your feet in, with seating built around them. The walking trail through the forest behind the pools is well marked and exceptionally beautiful in fall.
There is an open-air-bath for those who would like to enjoy first Onsen at Kusatsu .
Lunch
Please let me know what kind of meals you would like.
Famouse local meals are Soba and Udon but there are many kinds of food!
Onsen
Otakinoyu gives bathers a chance to experience the traditional awase-yu bathing culture, where several baths are taken in turn, each hotter than the last. In the recently renovated bath, the wooden pillars reach up to the ceiling, resembling tall trees standing in the mist as the hot spring steam wraps around them, giving the feeling of being outdoors.

“Amazing scenery and fun soba-making experience!”
This is the second part of my two-day tour with Kanami, and Day 2 was just as amazing! We visited a shrine perched on a cliff, and it was pleasant to do some light trekking in the cool winter air, while admiring nature. For lunch, I had the chance to make my own food with a hands-on soba-making experience! It was great fun learning the traditional craft and enjoying the freshest noodles with tempura. Then, we visited a geothermal area with breathtaking views of Mount Asama—a sight that left us in awe. Every detail was thoughtfully planned, and Kanami ensured I had the best experience. If you're looking for a guide who combines adventure, culture, and relaxation, look no further!
