Okazaki Castle
Okazaki Castle – Birthplace of Tokugawa Ieyasu
Okazaki Castle is a beautifully reconstructed castle in Aichi Prefecture, known as the birthplace of Tokugawa Ieyasu, the founder of the Tokugawa shogunate. Surrounded by a peaceful park and cherry blossom trees, the castle offers scenic views and a touch of history.
Inside the castle, visitors can explore historical exhibits, samurai armor, and learn about Ieyasu’s life and legacy. Don’t miss the chance to take photos in traditional samurai costumes or enjoy a relaxing boat ride along the nearby river during cherry blossom season.
It’s a must-visit spot for history lovers and those seeking a mix of culture, nature, and photo-worthy experiences.
Kakukyu Hatcho Miso restaurant and factory
Kakukyu Hatcho Miso – A Taste of Tradition Since the Samurai Era
Located near Okazaki Castle, Kakukyu is a historic miso brewery that has been producing Hatcho Miso for over 380 years. This rich, dark miso is known for its deep umami flavor and was once favored by the samurai, including Tokugawa Ieyasu.
At the Kakukyu facility, visitors can take a guided tour through traditional wooden warehouses, see massive cedar barrels used for fermentation, and learn about the centuries-old miso-making process.
There’s also a museum, tasting corner, and gift shop where you can try and buy a variety of miso-based products.
It’s a unique cultural experience that offers a deeper understanding of Japanese food history and craftsmanship.

——-
I was born in Japan and grew up in the United States.
After returning to Japan, I've worked all across the country. I spent a year traveling around Japan in a car that I DIY-converted into a camper. I hope to share the experiences and the knowledges of how to enjoy our culture to the most with people from all over the world.
I would like to introduce Japan's beautiful tourist spots that you can enjoy in every season—spring, summer, autumn, and winter—along with local delicacies beloved by the people in each area, and how to enjoy the unique cultures rooted in each region, such as: sushi, wagyu beef, cherry blossoms, rich milk bread, fluffy pancakes, convenient store's meals and snacks, maid cafe, izakaya(restaurant specialized to drink an alcohol), sake factory and so on.
I can create an original itinerary based on your interests! I’ll guide you with my private van anywhere in Japan from Hokkaido(top part of Japan) to Okinawa(bottom part of Japan). Without being restricted by public transportation schedules, allowing for more freedom in your travel. This is something only someone who has traveled the entire country, like me, can do! I’ll support you to the most, so please enjoy your time in Japan to the fullest!
