“Osaka Personalized Tour”
Takashi was very responsive to our on line request and made great suggestions for our all day Osaka itinerary. He met us at the cruise terminal ready to make the most of the day while taking into consideration the typhoon that was expected later that afternoon. Our first stop was the Osaka Castle Park and Hokoku Shrine. As we walked around, Takashi told us the history of the castle and explained the Shinto religion and practices. We also talked about the recent elections in Japan and US influence over the decades. Our next stop was the immense Osaka Station City. It is an amazing architectural structure with cascading escalators and interesting green spaces. We could have spent hours there, but after a Japanese coffee, we were ready for our first Osaka snack, Takoyaki (fried octopus dough balls). After that delicious break we headed to Ebisubashi-suji shopping street. We were tempted to have more snacks, but held out for a delicious late Okonomiyaki (savory pancake) lunch in a fun place filled with locals...and us. After lunch , the typhoon started in earnest and Takashi kept us dry by walking through covered passages and the underground. We still had a chance to run through the downpour in our obnoxious bright yellow ponchos while admiring smartly dressed Japanese shoppers who managed to remain dry. Lastly we walked through Dotonbori, Osaka's Time Square and picked up the famous Rikuro cheesecake to bring back to the ship. Takashi's expertise and knowledge of the city made our day fun and adventurous. I encourage you to reach out to him to plan your day in Osaka too. You won't regret it.
