Great Day in Shimizu Port/Shizuoka City

We had a wonderful day with Take san, who provided us an insightful tour of Shimizu. Our day included the Miho no Matsubara Pine Groves and the history behind this UNESCO World Heritage site, a visit to the Nihondaira Yume Terrace, which provided incredible views of Mt. Fuji, as well as the Nihondaira Tea Pavilion. We also had a short stop in a shopping area for us to purchase additional Shimizu teas. Take san was passionate about sharing his knowledge and showing us the sights and sounds of Shizuoka City. We saw Mt. Fuji from different viewpoints, which made the tour all the more magically. Thank you, Take san, for a great day!

Thank you so much for your kind review! It was such a pleasure guiding you both. The view of Mt. Fuji was truly unique and beautiful that day—the outline of the sacred mountain was so clear, and even a few clouds gathered interestingly around the summit. However, more than that, I am so happy that I could share such a wonderful time with both of you here in Shimizu! It was a once-in-a-lifetime, precious encounter for me. Thank you again, Tina san and Anca san.

Shimizu port / Shizuoka city with Take

We had the best day with Take! We would HIGHLY recommend doing his tour. He’s so knowledgeable and friendly, and lived in Shizuoka City his whole life so he knew all the best places. We went to the Miho no matsubara pine grove where we saw the trees from the legend of Hagoromo and amazing views of Mt. Fuji. It was beautiful and we learned so much about the history of the site as well. We also went to the Nihondaira yume terrace where we had incredible views of the city, the bay, and Mt Fuji. After that we went to our favorite part of the day, a private visit to a tea room with an actual tea master, Mr. Kato. We got to watch him prepare matcha for us and we shared the tea and some traditional Japanese sweets together with him and his wife. Then he let us try making it ourselves. It was both intimate and authentic and we will never forget the experience. Take is an extremely well prepared and thoughtful tour guide. He provided us with a bag of some Japanese sweet and salty snacks along the way and then surprised us with a very meaningful gesture of a handwritten post card with our names written in Kanji. Thanks for the wonderful day that we’ll never forget Take! Tom and Chelsea from Denver

Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a kind review during your busy trip to Tokyo. Tom san and Chelsea san, I hope your stay in Shimizu, the time we spent together, and your great experience will remain a wonderful memory for you forever—even if Mt. Fuji becomes invisible in your mind someday. Enjoy your work! Take from Shimizu
