I am Fumie Ueda, a National Government Licensed Guide Interpreter in Atami, Shizuoka, only 50 minutes away from Tokyo by Shinkansen trains. Atami is conveniently located at the foot of the Hakone mountains, and the base of the Izu Peninsula. It is also close to Mt. Fuji and the Shimizu Port in Shizuoka. I am excited to show you around beautiful places that I love. I grew up in Yokohama, spent 1 year as a high school exchange student in Allentown, PA in the US, went to college and lived/worked in Tokyo for about 10 years before coming to this beautiful onsen resort. After becoming a guide, I met with guests from various backgrounds, and I feel grateful once again, for my experience to be exposed to different cultures in my youth. Let’s have a good time together!

“I can’t say enough about my morning with Take”
It was the last day of a 17 day solo tour of Japan and the last thing I wanted to do when I woke up this morningwas visit more crowded shrines and temples especially since the cherry blossoms were mostly gone. Take knew that I wanted to focus on photography and he research the best spots for me to efficiently photograph the highlights of our tour. Not only did he research where and what to shoot but also how best to shoot it. The weather cooperated and we had a lovely day for photographs of Mount Fuji. The cherry blossoms were gone, but he found azaleas. He also found quiet, beautiful neighborhood shrines that were visually and spiritually appealing. Did I mention that his English was excellent. You could not go wrong hiring Take as a guide.

Hi Kathleen, Thank you so much for the wonderful review! Even if you’re just being kind, it really made my day. I truly enjoyed spending such a beautiful day with you. I had been looking forward to our photography tour for a long time, and I had just as much fun as you did! It was truly my pleasure. I hope you have a safe journey back home! Best regards, Take in Shimizu

“Short tour but most enjoyable.”
Our tour started at Minho Pine Grove which was very impressive with grand old pine trees some 300 years old. Sadly Mt Fuji was clouded over but we throughly enjoyed our drive to Sumpu Castle Park. A surprise boat ride on the moat was interesting with a close up view of the magnificent stone walls many years old. The Park has some spectacular displays of cherry blossoms as well meandered around and also a lovely Japanese garden. Our drive back to the ship also passed by some beautiful shrines and more beautiful Cherry blossom. Yasuko Y. was a very nice guide and made our visit special and sent us some great photos taken during our tour. She even included one of Mt. Fuji which she saw on her way home - which was very thoughtful. Thank you Yasuko, a lovely tour and you’ll be happy to know we did get to see Mt. Fuji a couple of times the next day.
