Takaoka city was originally developed as a castle town by a feudal lord, Mr. Maeda, 400 years ago.
Kanayamachi town is known as the birthplace of Takaoka copperware in order to develop the castle town. Guests can appreciate the atmosphere of the old town with traditional houses. There are some historic shops.
Through the tour, guests can get the history of Takaoka.

Kanayamachi old town entrance
Kanayamachi old town is known as the birthplace of Takaoka copperware. There is a bridge named Homeibashi bridge which has statues of phenix. They are made by craftsmen in town.
Risaburo shop
Risaburo was established in 1860s. Risaburo is the founder's name. They have been making copperware for a long time. They offer the experience of making tin items.
In this tour, you can make own sake cup by casting.
Before making it, you can see around their workplace at the back of the building and can listen to how to make items with the 5th generation.
Otera Kohachiro shop
Otera shop was established in 1860s. Otera Kohachiro is the founder's name of this shop. Now 6th generation is running the shop. There are three consecutive traditional houses there. They have a shop, a gallery, an atelier, and one cafe. We visit the cafe to have a drink.
They also offer experiences like making accessories with tin, and making items with tin with hammer.
