Takaoka Zuiryuji temple, National treasure

Zuiryuji temple was built in 1663. It was built for a feudal lord Mr. Maeda to mourn by his brother. Maeda was a founder of Takaoka city. There are some buildings which are designated as national treasures.
After the temple, we will visit one of Takaoka's symbol, Takaoka Great Buddha was made by craftsmen in Takaoka city, Toyama.
It is located in the central part of the town. The locals can come there any time because it is the the open-air statue.

Meeting Point
South exit of Takaoka station
- The guide will pick you up at the bottom of the escalator at the south exit.
Somon gate of Zuiryuji temple, the first gate
Somon gate is the first gate to enter the temple ground. The gate style is said to show high prestige.
Sanmon gate, the second gate
Sanmon gate is the second gate of the temple. Its building is a national treasure. The current building is reconstructed in 1820.
Butsuden Buddha hall
The Buddha hall was built in 1659. Its building is designated as a national treasure. The roof wights 47tons. It is rare the roof is covered with lead sheets even today.
Hatto main hall
Main hall is the building at the end of the temple ground. There is a space to put the memorial plate of the founder of Takaoka city, Maeda. Zuiryuji was named after posthumous Buddhist name of Maeda.

We will go back to the starting point and drive you back to the next destination, Takaoka Great Buddha.

The Great Buddha was made by craftsmen in Takaoka city, Toyama.

“Tateyama Alpine Route”

Takaoka driving around Mt. Futagami, a local mountain
Mt. Futagami is located at the west of Toyama area. It is the 274m high mountain. There is abundant nature in the mountain. It is familiar with locals. People from the region often walk, run, and hike around the mountain for having their relaxing time. There are some attractive sites like a huge statue of goddess of mercy, observatory which can look over the scenery of the town and the sea, and a huge bell.

Takaoka 4km-hiking at Mt. Futagami
Mt. Futagami is located at the west of Toyama. It is a 274m high mountain. In the tour, we will hike the gentle slope on the mountain. Walking about 2km, we will climb up until the summit of Mt. Futagami. The elevation different is about 200m from the bottom to the top. Guests can feel comfortable in the nature of the mountain. On the way, guests can look over the view of Takaoka city.
