About Tour Guide Kota A.

Hello everyone! My name is Kota.

After graduation from a university in Japan I spent a year in Vancouver, Canada, on a working holiday. While working as a server at a sushi restaurant, I had many opportunities to interact with guests who loved Japan, while also learning about Canadian culture from them. Those experiences became truly meaningful to me, and now I would like to take on that role here in Japan—sharing the beauty of my country with visitors and creating unforgettable memories together.

Tokyo is a world-famous metropolis, but beyond its well-known landmarks, it is full of hidden gems that are less crowded and waiting to be discovered. I would be delighted to explore such places with you and do my very best to make your trip to Japan a wonderful experience.

Since I am originally from Hiroshima, I am also very familiar with Kyoto, Hiroshima, and Osaka. I would be happy to give you helpful advice if you plan to visit those areas. And if our schedules align, I would love to guide you around my hometown Hiroshima, as well as Shiga where I spent my student years, or even Kyoto and Osaka. Please feel free to reach out anytime!

I enjoy watching soccer (especially Manchester United!), and I also like beer and whisky.

I’m really looking forward to meeting you all :)

P.S.

I am not a licensed guide, but I work as a friendly guide.

Rather than providing formal or highly specialized guiding like a school tour, my focus is on offering a more relaxed and friendly experience to help you enjoy your time in Japan.

I appreciate your understanding.

Reviews

Nice end to our 2 weeks in Japan

We decided to book this trip as we’re were due to fly out of Tokyo late evening and we disembarked Diamond Princess at 8:00 am. The tour is as flexible as you chose and is a great way to fill your day and not worry about what to do with your cases. Great way to finish the most amazing 2 week vacation we have ever had.

Dear Andrew, Thank you so much for your wonderful review! I would be very happy if this tour became one of your favorite memories from your time in Japan ;)) Next time, please come and visit Japan in a different season! I would love the opportunity to show you a completely different side of Japan then! Kota

Yasukuni Shrine and Nakamise Street

Kota was great to work with, we spent a lot of time planning our customised tour. Kota was lovely and patient with all my questions and ideas. He explained what was possible and what would not work. The tour group were corporate executives, and I believe Kota had as much fun as the executives. It was a casual tour which suited most of the group, although a couple executives would have preferred more storytelling/history/facts. This tour was a morning tour of Yasukuni Shrine, including the War Museum and then shopping at the Nakamise Street stalls. From here Kota was kind enough to take the group to meet up with their next tour group which was the Grand Sumo Tournament. Kota was great with the group and was flexible to accommodate the requests of the group.

Hi Bo, Thank you so much for your wonderful review, and thank you as well for all of our conversations over such a long period of time. I am truly grateful for your kind message. More than anything, I am so happy that we were able to take beautiful photos of Mt. Fuji together and share the unique scenery and experiences that make the area so special. I also sincerely appreciate your feedback regarding the historical and cultural explanations. If there were moments when my explanations could have been more detailed, that is very valuable feedback for me, and I am truly grateful that you shared it so thoughtfully. If you ever return to Japan, I would be honored to guide you again. I look forward to the opportunity to show you how much I have grown as a guide by then. Kota

Mt Fuji Day Trip

Kota was great to work with, we spent a lot of time planning our customised tour. Kota was lovely and patient with all my questions and ideas. He explained what was possible and what would not work. The tour group were corporate executives, and I believe Kota had as much fun as the executives. It was a casual tour which suited most of the group, although a couple executives would have preferred more storytelling/history/facts. They had a gorgeous day at Mt Fuji and the weather remained clear, sunny and beautiful for the whole day. Comments on Mt Fuji was it was spectacular and breathtaking. The group opted to experience the bullet train back to Tokyo and commented it was fast but the train itself felt tired and in need of an upgrade, the group were in first class (green).
