About Tour Guide Kota A.

Hello everyone! My name is Kota.

After graduation from a university in Japan I spent a year in Vancouver, Canada, on a working holiday. While working as a server at a sushi restaurant, I had many opportunities to interact with guests who loved Japan, while also learning about Canadian culture from them. Those experiences became truly meaningful to me, and now I would like to take on that role here in Japan—sharing the beauty of my country with visitors and creating unforgettable memories together.

Tokyo is a world-famous metropolis, but beyond its well-known landmarks, it is full of hidden gems that are less crowded and waiting to be discovered. I would be delighted to explore such places with you and do my very best to make your trip to Japan a wonderful experience.

Since I am originally from Hiroshima, I am also very familiar with Kyoto, Hiroshima, and Osaka. I would be happy to give you helpful advice if you plan to visit those areas. And if our schedules align, I would love to guide you around my hometown Hiroshima, as well as Shiga where I spent my student years, or even Kyoto and Osaka. Please feel free to reach out anytime!

I enjoy watching soccer (especially Manchester United!), and I also like beer and whisky.

I’m really looking forward to meeting you all :)

Best Guide EVER!!!

Kota (aka Kody) was the BEST guide we could have asked for! It was my mother and I’s first time in Japan, and we were only here for a short while, and Kody really made sure that we were able to see a lot of landmarks and fill up our days, but we never felt rushed or stressed. He also knew some amazing food spots! His English and translation skills are phenomenal, and were very helpful during our time. He also created a wonderful itinerary for us, which was extremely helpful and fun. He combined our interests/things we wanted to see, and also showed some places we never would have thought of. As a person, he is extremely kind, professional, and funny. We really cannot recommend Kody enough. He made our trip 100000x better, and anyone would be extremely lucky to have him as a guide. Arigatō gozaimasu Kody!

Dear Devon, Thank you so much for your warm and wonderful review. I’m truly happy to hear that you were able to enjoy your time in Japan for the first time. Even though the time we spent together was short, it was really fun and meaningful for me as well. Please reach out again whenever you come back to Japan! I would be delighted to guide you, your sister, and your father next time;) I’m already looking forward to seeing you soon! Kody

Great results from transportation glitch.

The transportation glitch was due to an incident in the subway system delaying our start of the tour, Kota kept in contact with me the whole time. I decided to change the tour to Akihabara where my grandson went with his parents that day. Meet with them, explore the amazing electronics and gadgets there and save Shibamata for later…Kota thank you for accommodating my wishes, the places we toured were great, the hidden matcha cafe with top class baked chocolate cakes and delicious matcha lattes!! and located in a warehouse!!! I expect next time we tour again my family and grandson especially will want to have you to guide them since they’ve meet you, it was a nice dinner together ending the day…thanks Kota

Dear Gregg, Thank you again for your warm review of our second day together! This day was just as wonderful for me as well. I’m sorry for keeping you waiting… Even with the sudden change of plans, you accepted everything so kindly, and it truly made me happy that you still enjoyed our time together. Thank you so much. It was also a great pleasure for me to meet your granddaughter and your daughter and son-in-law. Please make sure to contact me again when you visit Japan next time! I sincerely hope we can see each other again soon. Take good care of yourself :) Kody

A memorable tour to Kawagoe

I want to thank Kota on my tour of Japan, in creating a memorable tour for me. I explained my desires to travel as locals do, eat taste what the area visited is known for, my liking for traditional ways, methods, history, craft and people so…. Kawagoe, thank you Kota for always looking back, checking me and surroundings for my safety, the easy conversations, walking the neighborhood, being the translator, revealing the history, the tastings, and that great soba noodles and tempura served in that old traditional place, excellent …. I would never have found that quaint old spot. I will be back, hope to have you as my guide again on another tour.

Dear Gregg, Thank you so much for your warm review. I imagine the distance from the hotel might have been a bit tiring, but I truly hope you still felt it was an enjoyable time. Sharing sweets, food, and the beautiful scenery together has become a wonderful memory for me as well. Please make sure to contact me again when you come back to Japan! I’ll be looking forward to seeing you again as soon as possible ;) Kody
