About Tour Guide Kota A.

Hello everyone! My name is Kota.

After graduation from a university in Japan I spent a year in Vancouver, Canada, on a working holiday. While working as a server at a sushi restaurant, I had many opportunities to interact with guests who loved Japan, while also learning about Canadian culture from them. Those experiences became truly meaningful to me, and now I would like to take on that role here in Japan—sharing the beauty of my country with visitors and creating unforgettable memories together.

Tokyo is a world-famous metropolis, but beyond its well-known landmarks, it is full of hidden gems that are less crowded and waiting to be discovered. I would be delighted to explore such places with you and do my very best to make your trip to Japan a wonderful experience.

Since I am originally from Hiroshima, I am also very familiar with Kyoto, Hiroshima, and Osaka. I would be happy to give you helpful advice if you plan to visit those areas. And if our schedules align, I would love to guide you around my hometown Hiroshima, as well as Shiga where I spent my student years, or even Kyoto and Osaka. Please feel free to reach out anytime!

I enjoy watching soccer (especially Manchester United!), and I also like beer and whisky.

I’m really looking forward to meeting you all :)

P.S.

I am not a licensed guide, but I work as a friendly guide.

Rather than providing formal or highly specialized guiding like a school tour, my focus is on offering a more relaxed and friendly experience to help you enjoy your time in Japan.

I appreciate your understanding.

Best tour guide

This was our first trip to Japan, and we were travelling as three generations of our family—my mother, myself, and the children. We did a couple of tours with Kota, and he did an outstanding job planning our outings, creating itineraries that catered perfectly to everyone's interests. The boys had an amazing time exploring the anime shops, local street markets, and unique stores, as well as riding the trains and experiencing everything they had been looking forward to. Kota really connected with them, understood exactly what they wanted to see and do, and made every day fun and engaging. As food lovers, we also appreciated that Kota took us to some fantastic local restaurants that were less crowded, giving us the opportunity to enjoy authentic Japanese food away from the busy tourist spots. My mother especially enjoyed visiting the beautiful shrines and peaceful gardens, and Kota ensured there was a great balance of activities for all three generations throughout our tours. We would highly recommend Kota to anyone visiting Japan. He has a wonderful ability to connect with people of all ages, is incredibly knowledgeable, and tailors each tour to suit everyone's interests. Thanks to his thoughtful planning, our family created wonderful memories that we'll cherish for years to come.

Hi Kylie, Thank you so much for the wonderful review! I am truly happy that I could be in charge of such a wonderful time with your three-generation family. Although it was a short period of time, thank you very much. I would be very happy if this time becomes a great memory and makes you want to visit Japan again;)) I look forward to seeing you all again! Kota

Tokyo City Highlights in a Day

Kota arranged a very personalized, thorough, and fun tour of Tokyo in 7 hours. We started our tour with Kota after spending about 2 hours at Tokyo TeamLabs Planets. Kota met us their with his assistant, Mishi, and we were on our way to Shibuya Crossing and got some fun photos. We then moved on to the Harajuku district to see the anime trends and styles (we have teens) and then we saw a beautiful shrine and walked through the picturesque red torii gates. We then had a delicious ramen lunch. After that, Kota knew we wanted to get an authentic Japanese kitchen knife and a matcha set, so he took us to some specific stores on Kappabashi Street. He was very knowledgeable and helped guide us through all of the different options and qualities. We ended up with a beautiful knife for my husband and me and two other engraved knives for the kids for their first home. While the knives were getting engraved, Kota took us to a magnificent temple where we could get some Japanese sweets, do a little shopping, and get some pictures with the Tokyo SkyTree Tower in the background. At the end, he drove us to our hotel and we arrived perfectly at the 7 hr mark. Kota was an expert driver, navigator, and seemed to know the city in and out. He made a perfectly personalized tour for us and we never would have seen so many things without him. We were blessed to have him as our guide for our one day in Tokyo. Many thanks Kota!

Hi Jennifer, Thank you so much for the wonderful review. Although it was a short period of time, I also had a very wonderful time myself! I would be happy if looking at the photos and the items you purchased, such as the knives, brings back memories of this wonderful trip;)) I am looking forward to seeing you all again! Kota

Nice end to our 2 weeks in Japan

We decided to book this trip as we’re were due to fly out of Tokyo late evening and we disembarked Diamond Princess at 8:00 am. The tour is as flexible as you chose and is a great way to fill your day and not worry about what to do with your cases. Great way to finish the most amazing 2 week vacation we have ever had.
