Nicolas I.
Hello, my name is Nicolas. I’m originally from Argentina and have been living in Japan for the past eight years, proudly calling Osaka my home. Being married to a Japanese wife has given me a strong personal connection to the culture and a deeper understanding of everyday life here, far beyond what most visitors get to see. Tourism has always been my passion and profession, and I have spent these years working in the tour industry, helping travelers discover Japan in a meaningful and enjoyable way. I love sharing not only the famous landmarks, but also the small details, stories, and local experiences that make this country so special. My goal is to make every tour feel relaxed, authentic, and memorable—like exploring Japan with a knowledgeable friend who truly loves living here. I look forward to welcoming you and showing you this amazing place I now call home.

Naoto O.
Hello! My name is Naoto, and I am from Mie Prefecture. I became a National Government Licensed Guide Interpreter in 2026. While I am still building my experience as a professional guide, I completed a tourism guide training program organized by the Mie Prefectural Government in 2025. Through this program, I gained solid knowledge of Japanese history and culture, as well as practical skills in guiding and tour planning. I spent my university years in Kyoto and also studied abroad in Canada and New Zealand. I have passed the EIKEN Grade 1 and scored 925 on the TOEIC. My academic background is in law and international relations, so I enjoy discussing global topics as well. I specialize in guiding visitors in the Iga region, the birthplace of ninja, and the quiet historical areas of eastern Nara Prefecture. These places are not crowded with international tourists, but they offer a deeper understanding of Japan. Of course, I can also guide you to Ise Grand Shrine, one of the most sacred places in Japan. Since public transportation is limited in these rural areas, we will travel comfortably by my car. If you are interested, I would also love to introduce you to local restaurants that serve fresh organic vegetables from this region.

Shawn D.
My name is Shawn. I am American and I have been living in Japan for the last 15 years. What started as a chapter became a life, and Japan has shaped who I am in ways I am still discovering. I guide exclusively in English. After 15 years as a foreigner navigating this country, I understand what genuinely moves Western visitors, what surprises them, and most importantly, the difference between a quality experience and a tourist trap. I will always steer you toward the real thing. I am based in Kobe, a city that most tourists fly straight past on their way to Osaka and Kyoto. That is their loss and your opportunity. Kobe is a relaxed, walkable port city with a character unlike anywhere else in Japan. Yes, the Kobe beef is world class. But Kobe is also one of the most historically rich and visually beautiful cities in the country, without the overwhelming crowds you will find elsewhere. I know this city and this region deeply. From Kobe, Kyoto and Osaka are both reachable in well under an hour by train. That puts you at the center of the best region in Japan without the noise and chaos of staying in a major tourist hub. I cover the full Kansai region and beyond, from famous landmarks and cultural sites to the strictly local places most visitors never find. I am also available for early morning and late evening tours. Some of the most memorable experiences in Japan happen when the crowds are gone. Every tour is planned around you. Tell me what matters and I will build the day around it. Come find out what Japan means to you. Shawn

Seiya S.
Hello, my name is Seiya, a local tour guide in the Kansai region. I was born and raised in Osaka. Growing up in Osaka made me understand its culture, mindset, and people. I also often travel overseas myself(Recent favourite is India!) and interact with local people, making me understand non-Japanese people's perspective on this country. I am particularly interested in Japanese history, religion, and traditional culture. During my time living in Kyoto, I developed a strong curiosity about temples, shrines, and the ideas behind them, and I enjoy sharing these insights in a clear and easy-to-understand way. I welcome questions and conversations, and I am happy to adjust the tour based on your interests and pace. I am also a photographer, soI would be happy to photograph you with my beloved 35mm film camera. Film photo has a nostalgic warmth, creating timeless photos that stay close to your heart! Looking forward to seeing you soon! I am not available from April to October. Thank you for your understanding.

Nara Prefecture is an ancient capital where Heijo-kyo was built during the Nara period. There are many spots and Buddhist statues designated as national treasures and world cultural heritage sites, such as Todaiji and Horyuji. We also recommend visiting Mt. “Great time with Yoshi”
We spent 2.5 days with Yoshi at Nara and Kyoto area. The weather was mixed sun and rain but this doesn’t prevent the enjoyment and learning we recieved. Yoshi was previously a teacher which really helped him explain so clearly. Our highlights were all the gardens we gardened we experienced on the silver pavilion tour.,Amazing.

“Makoto gave us a splendid tour of Nara Park ”
My husband and I spent his birthday in Nara with Makoto, who was a pleasure to be with. Our guide skillfully set a strong pace to allow us to see and enjoy the sights on our itinerary while also threading the needle through the crowds. I am collecting goshuins, special stamps with calligraphy found at temples and shrines, and Makoto helped me locate the goshuin stations within the temple complexes. This is a fun keepsake of any trip to Japan and you can purchase a designated accordion notebook at your first religious sight. Makoto brought some very helpful educational papers for us to keep, helping us better understand the important history of this ancient capital and root of Japanese Buddhism. He also explained what we were seeing along the way and told us about the very colorful and interesting festivals, which even involve monks carrying a fiery torch of burning spruce through a wooden temple complex at night while crowds watch the sparks fly. Nara is full of ancient rituals that mystify the foreign visitor. Nara Park is a lovely and relaxing place to spend a day. We saw the Kofukuji Temple, the National Treasure House of Buddhist statues, the Todaiji Temple with the enormous wooden Buddha, the thousand beautiful lanterns at the Kasuga Taisha Shrine. Don't miss the dark room where it simulates night and the lanterns are all aglow. Of course we had the opportunity to meet, pet and even feed wafer crackers to the sacred deer, whom Makoto asked to bow. Many of the deer would oblige by nodding their heads. Makoto has a a good sense of humor -- he bought my husband a headband of deer antlers as a birthday present so of course Sam had to wear them through the park. Very cute! Makoto also arranged a gift of deer origami for him. We highly recommend Makoto as a knowledgeable and skillful.guide. He selected a very tasty Japanese restaurant for lunch. Our final stop in the park was a quiet garden where we took a few minutes to contemplate a Zen rock garden.

Dear Sam and Pringle, Thank you very much for your nice comments and message about Nara tour. Nara was the end of Silk Road and this is the reason why we see many mysterious sight, statue, and events. Still the background can not explain sometime. This is kind of ancient romance, which we could share in the tour. Therefore, I also enjoyed very much to guide you, who has keen interest in Nara. I have to apologize that I could not prepare the blossoming of wisteria this time. Please come back to Nara again. Thanks again for your choosing me of your guide. Please have a nice trip back to U.S. Makoto

Masahisa-san was an incredible guide, navigating the side-streets with ease and allowing us to see even more of Nara and Osaka than we had hoped! He has a wealth of life experiences to share and is a very calming presence throughout the day. He is committed to making sure you get the best photographs and has a great eye for what will make a good picture. I would highly recommend touring with him and look forward to hopefully doing so again in the future!

Katie Thank you so much for traveling all the way from afar to visit us. I’m relieved to hear that you might have returned home safely. Hearing the recent news about NYK and the new young mayor made me feel as if I were chatting with both of you at Madison Square Garden. If you have the chance, please do come visit us again.
