Let's visit Chiran, the peaceful southern town in Kagoshima, for the famous Samurai gardens and Peace museum!
At Samurai residence gardens, you can enjoy strolling around the variety of Japanese gardens preserved from Edo period(1600s-1800s).
At Peace museum, as known as Kamikaze pilot museum, you can learn what was happening at the end of World War 2 in Chiran. The exhibits include four planes, letters and testaments by the pilots, and other artefacts, as well as photographs of 1306 pilots.

Chiran Samurai Residence Gardens
Strolling around the historic Chiran town, we will enjoy the 7 Samurai residence gardens.
Lunch or tea break
Lunch or green tea break before leaving Chiran town. It's nice to try some green tea there, because Chiran is one of the most well-known areas for its good quality of green tea and has the highest production volume in Japan!!
Chiran Peace Museum
We will visit Chiran Peace Museum for learning Kamikaze pilots. The exhibits include four planes, letters and testaments by the pilots, and other artefacts, as well as photographs of 1306 pilots.
Viewpoint for Mt. Kaimon
On the way back, we will stop at a viewpoint for Mt. Kaimon, as known as "Fuji of Kagoshima.

Born in Tokyo and left the bustling capital when I was 22 years old with my little backpack. After spent my youth to see and experience the world, more than 25 countries in total, and lived in several areas of Japan, such as Yakushima, Izu, Kochi, and Amami Oshima. Since 2010, I have worked as an English-speaking tour guide in Japan, for INTREPID TRAVEL for 3 years, as a sea kayak tour guide in Izu for 3 years, and as a self-employed in Amami Oshima for 9 years, love to show people around my favorite places.

“Wonderful island”
Eiji was a great guide. He listened to what we wanted and we had a great day. He is very kind and despite the language difference we had a great time. It was wet that day but Eiji brought umbrellas for everyone. He has a very beautiful smile.

Eiji is a fantastic guide. We booked a birding/nature tour with him. We saw many new birds in a short amount of time. It started to rain, and he took us on a tour of the island and a stop at a Kimono factory and a chicken soup lunch. We had a great day with him. Don't hesitate to book with Eiji.

Eiji is very kind and knowledgeable. He came very punctually at 5.30 am to pick me at the hotel. But it is better you book directly with him and avoid this platform which takes a ridiculous one-third in fees for providing very basic functionality.
