Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine (Samurai Heritage & Spiritual Heart)

Kamakura’s most important Shinto shrine, established in 1063 and expanded by Minamoto no Yoritomo, the founder of Japan's first samurai government.

Stroll the torii-lined approach and enjoy ponds, bridges, and seasonal scenery.


Admission: Free (Treasure Hall: 200 yen)

Komachi Street and Wakamiya Oji Avenue

Walk from Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine to Kamakura Station via Komachi Street and Wakamiya Oji Avenue. Enjoy local snacks, traditional sweets, souvenir shops, and one of Kamakura's most scenic boulevards.

Hokokuji Temple (Zen Bamboo Grove & Matcha Experience)

Visit one of Kamakura's most peaceful Zen temples, famous for its beautiful bamboo grove with over 2,000 bamboo stalks. Stroll through the tranquil garden and, if you wish, enjoy a bowl of matcha green tea at Kyukoan Teahouse while surrounded by nature. In autumn, the combination of bamboo and colorful maple leaves creates a breathtaking atmosphere.

Zeniarai Benzaiten Ugafuku Shrine (Money-Washing Shrine)

Discover one of Kamakura's most unique and beloved shrines, where visitors wash their coins and banknotes in sacred spring water in the hope of increasing their wealth and good fortune. Hidden inside a small valley and surrounded by nature, this atmospheric shrine has been a popular spiritual destination.
