Golden Pavilion Temple (Kinkakuji)

Kinkaku-ji is one of Kyoto’s most iconic landmarks, famous for its beautiful Golden Pavilion reflected in the surrounding pond. Originally built as a retirement villa for shogun Ashikaga Yoshimitsu in the late 14th century, it was later converted into a Zen temple. We’ll walk through the temple grounds and enjoy the peaceful gardens while learning about its history and the role it played in the development of Kyoto’s culture.

Nijo Castle

Nijo Castle was built in 1603 by Tokugawa Ieyasu, the founder of the Tokugawa shogunate. It was used as a residence for the shogun when he visited Kyoto and is one of the best places to learn about Japan’s samurai-era history. We’ll explore the impressive palace buildings and beautiful gardens, including the famous “nightingale floors,” which make a gentle chirping sound when walked on. We’ll also learn about the castle’s important role in the end of the Tokugawa shogunate and the beginning of modern Japan.

Gion stroll, starting at the Sanjo Bridge

This historic bridge was where travelers would arrive when visiting Kyoto in the 17th century. We’ll explore preserved areas such as the Shirakawa Alley and Yasaka Shrine, which is closely connected to the origins of the name “Gion.”

Higashiyama walk to end our day!

This is safe to say, my favorite area to walk around because it represents Kyoto beautifully, not just from the scenary but with grand temples and local ally ways. will visit places like Chionin, Maruyama Park, Nene's ally, Kodaji grounds, and Sannenzaka/Ninennzaka hill to see the great view of the Yasaka Pagoda Tower

After all that walking, we do deserve to relax, sit down and have a peaceful, quiet time looking at the beautiful zen garden of Kenninji Temple
