- The guide will meet you at your hotel in Kyoto City. If guests are staying outside Kyoto City, the guide will meet you at a terminal station within the city.
Fushimi Inari-taisha shrine
We visit Fushimi Inari, one of most famous shrines in Kyoto where the vast Inariyama mountain serves as its sacred precinct, preserving traces of nature worship. Guide will introduce Shintoism history (and how it differs from Buddhism), showcase Kyoto's beautiful natural charm, and guide you through the famous “Thousand Torii Gates.” If desired, we can also take a roughly one-hour mini-hike covering the entire mountain.
Sanjusangen-do Temple
Visit the majestic Sanjusangen-dō Temple, where 1,001 golden Buddha statues stand in solemn procession. Learn about Japanese Buddhist teachings and the intricate craftsmanship of the sculptors. This spot is recommended not only for history buffs but also for those who appreciate art and sculpture.
Nijo-jo Castle
Visit Nijo-jo Castle, a remnant of the samurai era preserved in Kyoto. Discover the history of the samurai, along with the magnificent architecture, paintings, and the distinctive features of its beautiful Japanese garden. It is also famous as a prime spot for cherry blossom viewing in spring.
Lunch break
Lunch break. If you let us know in advance about any food allergies, dietary restrictions, or foods you dislike, we'll guide you to recommended dining spots.
The Kyoto Imperial Palace
Guide will take you to the Kyoto Imperial Palace, where the Emperor once resided and still visits during his stays in Kyoto. Enjoy the beautiful Japanese architecture and gardens nestled within the vast park grounds. Kyoto Imperial Park is also famous as a cherry blossom viewing spot in spring.
Depending on your preferences, we can also visit Arashiyama in the afternoon to explore its tranquil bamboo groves and Zen temples and gardens. Please inquire when making your reservation.
Stroll and shop on Teramachi Street
Take a stroll along Teramachi Street near Kyoto Imperial Palace. While the southern section is crowded with tourists, the northern area is quiet and features tasteful craft shops, antique stores, and Japanese tea shops. “Wonderful day with Noriko ”
We had a lovely day with Noriko. She took us the places we requested and added another wonderful stop as well. She has been helpful to find my sunglasses I dropped at one of the temples. She also brought them to our hotel. We really appreciated her kindness.

“Wonderful evening in Kurama with Noriko”
Noriko was an excellent guide for our trip to the Kurama Fire Festival. She was expertly prepared with history, photos, and stories of the area not to mention a secret stool to sit down, treats and extra warm clothes for the evening. Her English is excellent, she navigated the crowds well for my elderly parents and was so personable. We would highly recommend Noriko as a guide an invite her to come visit us in Canada!
