Step back in time and discover the soul of Japan’s ancient capital on this immersive 3-hour journey. We begin at the world-renowned Kiyomizu-dera Temple, where you’ll marvel at the wooden stage and a breathtaking view that has remained unchanged for centuries. From there, we’ll descend through the preserved historic slopes of Sannenzaka, Yasaka Pogoda eventually reaching at Gion, where the elegant world of Geisha culture still thrives today.

Meeting Point
The Minamiza Kabuki Theatre (Exit 4 of Gion-shijo Station)
- Let’s meet at the ground level, right in front of the Minamiza Theatre. By Train (Keihan Line): 1. Arrive at Gion-shijo Station. 2. Follow the signs for Exit 4. 3. Take the stairs or elevator to the ground level. 4. You will find the Minamiza Theatre immediately in front of you. By Bus: Get off at the "Shijo Keihan-mae" bus stop. The theatre is the large, traditional building located right at the intersection.
Kiyomizu Temple
Founded in 778, this UNESCO World Heritage site is famous for its massive wooden stage built without a single nail. The temple’s name means "Pure Water Temple," and it offers one of the most iconic panoramic views of Kyoto. It is a must-visit spiritual landmark that perfectly captures the history and beauty of Japan.
Sannenzaka, historical path
Sannenzaka is a beautiful stone-paved slope lined with traditional wooden buildings and shops. It is a Preserved Historic District that perfectly captures the atmosphere of old Kyoto.
Yasaka Pogoda
This iconic five-story pagoda is the oldest of its kind in Kyoto and serves as the most famous symbol of the Higashiyama district. Standing 46 meters tall, it is one of the most photographed landmarks in the city.
Gion
Gion is Kyoto’s most famous Geisha district, where the atmosphere of the Edo period still lives on. It is known for its beautiful wooden merchant houses (machiya), exclusive teahouses, and hidden alleys. If you are lucky, you may spot a Maiko or Geiko (Geisha) in their exquisite kimonos on their way to evening appointments.

Guide fee
• Public transportation fees: 230 JPY per person for the local bus from the meeting point to the Kiyomizu-dera area.
• Taxi fee if you want
• Entrance fee for Kiyomizu-dera Temple: 500 JPY per adult.
• Other personal expenses (food, drinks, and souvenirs).
Note: Only the bus fare and temple entrance fee are required during the tour. Please have approximately 800-1,000 JPY in cash per person ready on the day.
Tour Important Information
• This is a walking tour, so please wear comfortable walking shoes.
• This tour involves some steep slopes and stairs, especially around the Kiyomizu-dera area.
• Please let me know in advance if you have any physical concerns or walking difficulties.
• Entrance fees for temples and public transportation costs are not included in the tour price.
