For this tour, we will leave the bustling city center behind for a tranquil mountain hike. We will see the city from new heights and take in fascinating historical shrines, 400 year old cemeteries, while immersed in a lush Japanese forest. We will start at a local coffee shop and finish with a delicious lunch.

If you're not a "hiker", no problem. One version of this tour is a hike, but there are alternative transportation methods to get to our destination, so this tour is accessible to anyone.

Meeting Point

Meganebashi (Spectacles Bridge)

- Why not start our tour with an iconic Nagasaki landmark? We will meet at Meganebashi (Spectacles Bridge). There are many public transportation stops nearby, and it is in the city center so it is easily accessible from many places. We can take a look and some photos, while taking in the view of mountains all around the city's edge.

Coffee Shop

There are many wonderful local coffee shops to choose from, and many of them are within 5 minutes walk from Meganebashi. Let's grab a coffee and perhaps a snack to fuel up before our tour really begins.

10:10 AM

Kazagashira Mountain Hike

We will begin our ascent here through a historic cemetery. Before long we will be above all the buildings and in a picturesque forest. This place feels very meditative and timeless.

10:40 AM

Top of the Mountain

We will get to the top of the mountain and celebrate! There are incredible views of the city all around, and depending on the time of year you might see some beautiful seasonal flowers or foliage. We can rest here and take some photographs before heading to our next location.

Fox Shrine

This is a beautiful hidden gem of Nagasaki. We will see a very special shrine (which has a fascinating festival in October) and many Torii gates before heading back down into the city for a well deserved lunch.

Lunch

Depending on your food preferences, we will go to a delicious local spot for lunch, I'm thinking something quite traditional and authentic. Over lunch we can discuss some recommendations I have for the rest of your time in Nagasaki!

After lunch, once you decide what your plans are for the rest of the day, I'm happy to guide you to your destination!
