Exploring Koyasan
Women were forbidden to enter Koyasan until 1872. Koyasan, literally means Mt Koya, a 900 high highland located in Wakayama Prefecture is a center of Buddhist study. A founder of Shingon Sect, Kobo Daishi Kukai who was granted by emperor Saga to use this land in 816. You can touch the Buddhist concept of vicissitude in a walk through the path toward innermost sanctum in deep ceder tree forest.

“An enriching experience”
The tour lead by Hiro for me and my partner was relaxing and informative. We had the option to rent a car, hence it saved us a lot of time and we spent quite a while to explore the areas without feeling rushed. Hiro was very patient and explained about Buddhism and the historical significance of Mount Koya. The explanation was clear and was easily relatable as we can match it to what we see. “The finest of Travel Guides.”
NoNo is absolutely amazing. Her knowledge is deep and delivered in a fun manner. She was highly adaptable to our needs and very considerate. We sat down for lunch and I asked NoNo to go through the history of the Samurai, Shogun and the Emperor - out came a chart, wow, I could place Henry V111 in and Queen Victoria where certain events were, we loved her.
