In many elementary and junior high schools, all-school assembly is held in the morning almost every month so that a principal can give an instructive talk to students. A teacher in charge of student counseling and guidance also gives a talk to remind the students of the school rules. They often end the assembly by singing a school song together. Such an assembly is also held at the beginning and the end of each semester. The students had to remain standing during the assembly before, but now the assembly is held with them remaining seated on the floor so they won't pass out.
