I have lived in the US, UK, and India for approximately 20 years, and I’ve also traveled to about 30 countries. Living abroad for such a long time made me realize Japan’s value and sparked my interest in working as a translator/guide for foreigners. I’m truly passionate about introducing people to historical sites, authentic Japanese culture, and stunning natural spots that may not be widely known to people outside of Japan. There are countless places that I believe people would love. Originally from Nagoya, I cover areas around the city and the Kansai region including Kyoto, Shiga and Mie. I’m here to ensure your trip to Japan becomes an unforgettable memory. Looking forward to meeting you!

Hello, I’m Makoto (Mac) and I'm a national-licensed tour guide. My previous career as an automotive engineer, gave me the opportunity to learn English and to live in the US, Germany, and England. After I retired, I learned more about the Japanese history especially focusing on Nara and Kyoto to become a historical specialist of the Nara area. I now live in Ikaruga town in Nara prefecture, where the UNESCO World Heritage, Horyuji temple is located. I regularly offer guides on the Fujinoki tumulus, which is located near the Horyuji temple. It contains very interesting Archaeological findings from the end of the Kofun Period. Recently, there are many foreign tourists who come to Japan, and I hope they enjoy learning about the culture and history of Japan. I would like to help tourists have a broader and deeper understanding of the Japanese culture and that is the reason why I decided to become a tour guide to help and support their experience in Japan. Nara is the place where Japan started. The capital was located in Asuka, Fujiwara and Nara before it moved to Kyoto. Therefore, there are many places to visit in Nara to trace the original history of Japan, which I have a depth of knowledge. Let’s explore the roots of Japan together!!

Hello, my name is Masa. I live in Fukuoka city. After entering the big company in Japan as an engineer, I went to America to study for 1 year and 8 months. I have experience working with many American and European engineers. I worked as design section manager and construction manager. After retirement I worked at the group company as a director for seven years. Then I started an English volunteer guide. I have guided so many people from all over the world for 5 and half years. It is very fun to meet many foreigners. I prepared many tour courses and many nice restaurants. You can select one of them. After visiting your favorite tourist spot, I take you to the nice delicious local restaurant at Fukuoka. You can tell what kind of food you want to eat. I recommend Tempura and Sashimi, Teppanyaki, Sushi, Sukiyaki, and so on. I want you enjoy eating meal and talking with Japanese. I teach you some manner of Japanese food. I am really looking forward to hearing from you.

I am a licensed guide interpreter. I have seven years of working experience in a foreign company, where I enjoyed communicating with people with various backgrounds. So I love my job as a guide that can broaden my view through direct interaction with foreign visitors. I have been living in Fukuoka for 16 years. Japan

I had worked for the Japan's biggest travel agency JTB (Japan Travel Bureau) for 35 years as a tour escort for Japanese. I visited 68 countries and of course all over Japan as well. So I’m familiar with almost all of the tourist attractions in Japan. More over I’m also a professional magician now. I’m a member magician of The Magic Castle in Hollywood in US. That's why I made a decision to become an English tour guide. I acquired a tour guide license issued by the Japanese government with a lot of hard work in 2016 and I started from the following year. I guided 1,420 people with 17 groups totaly in 2017and 1,600 people in 1018. Through long work for travel business, I was assigned to excursions of all over Japan, such as Sapporo, Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, Nagoya, Hiroshima, Fukuoka, Okinawa and others, which gave me intimate knowledge about most places in the country. In addition, I am adept in business fields and knowledgeable about historical sites, traditional culture and modern subcultures in Japan. My wife is a disabled person with an intractable disease who needs 24-hour nursing care. Our daughter takes care of my wife while I am guiding. Even if my schedule is free, I may not be able to take the tour on days when my daughter cannot cooperate. Please ask me first. If it is possible.

Hi! I am Kazue. I am from Fukuoka and live in the central city. I spent almost 20 years traveling around the world as a cabin attendant. Meeting different people, different cultures and eating local food were best things in my career. This experience definitely widened my perspective and will help me in some way when I work as a guide. Since I spent half my life outside of Japan, I noticed our culture and traditions are very unique and became more interested in historical sites in Japan. For my personal life, I am a mom of twins. It is still a hard work but I am enjoying a lot with them. We take them around Kyushu whenever possible for their fun and experience. We all love traveling after all. I am looking forward to showing you around our hometown soon!

Yui was our highlight in Osaka and Kyoto!

My family had the most memorable time with Yui and she was very warm and welcoming to us and easy to be around. Yui was also very flexible and understanding and assisted helpfully to any sudden changes that occurred with luggaging, train tickets, etc. Our 8 year old son was very entertained by Yui and did word puzzles on the phone together whilst on the train. Yui took us to really nice places and restaurants and we feel as though we had already been friends for a long time, ...actually I can't say enough - we had so much fun. Thank you Yui, we hope to spend time with you again soon. Melissa, Warren and Xavier.

Great knowledge on a broad range of subjects

We thoroughly enjoyed our time with Grant. After collecting us from our accommodation we caught trains to various locations and discussed all manner of topics from Japanese history, culture old and new, food, politics and religion. Very flexible. Could not recommend Grant more highly.
