If you're coming to Fukuoka for the first time, I recommend Tochoji Temple, Kushida Shrine and Fukuoka Castle Ruins where you can get feel for Japanese culture and history. Thirty minutes away from the center by train is Dazaifu. There you can enjoy a very famous shrine, Dazaifu Tenmangu, known as the home of " the god of literature or calligraphy." and Kyushu National Museum. Fukuoka is also a mecca for shopping and food. If you're coming to Fukuoka again, I recommend that you try local food, for example, Hakata Ramen-noodles in pork broth and locally caught fish. I can also take you to a traditional Japanese shopping arcade, Kawabata Shotengai. If you would like to get out of the city, we could go to Yanagawa, a town of canals, which is a one hour ride from the city center. You can try boat tours enjoying the leisurely view of the historic buildings and try Steamed Eel. Fukuoka travel tip: if you arrive in Fukuoka by JR, make sure to get off at "Hakata Station." Sorry, there's no "Fukuoka Station." on JR lines. Hakata is an old name for Fukuoka and your destination. I look forward to hearing from you soon.

I had worked for the Japan's biggest travel agency JTB (Japan Travel Bureau) for 35 years as a tour escort for Japanese. I visited 68 countries and of course all over Japan as well. Through long work for travel business, I was assigned to excursions of all over Japan, such as Sapporo, Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, Nagoya, Hiroshima, Fukuoka, Okinawa and others, which gave me intimate knowledge about most places in the country. My wife is a disabled person with an intractable disease who needs 24-hour nursing care. Our daughter takes care of my wife while I am guiding. Using the GoWithGuide website, Kazu’s profile caught our eye. We messaged him with a high-level outline of what we were looking for. Within 30 minutes we got a reply with an initial hello and welcome, which was really nice and comforting, and further information about him and what he could do for us. This combined with the information on his profile and subsequent interactive messages, confirmed Kazu would be the ideal personal guide for us and confirmed the booking through the GoWithGuide website. Over the next couple of days, Kazu remained in contact with us feeling like he was going the extra mile to make sure we had thought of everything and offering suggestions for consideration. On the day of our session, Kazu kept in contact and he met us at the hotel. From then he was super attentive, making sure we were happy, enjoying ourselves, experiencing the local culture and etiquette. The Japanese know how to provide a service and Kazu’s tailor-made service was second to none. He took us to all the places and local experiences we wanted to savour including pop culture, arcades, Izakaya Experiences, Beer, Sake and shopping. We felt he gave us a super overview and understanding of everyday life in Osaka. It was as though we were out with a friend for the evening. We can highly recommend Kazu’s personal guide service and Kazu as a professional & an individual. We are planning to come back to Osaka in 2025 and will look up Kazu to book another personal guide. “Learning journey with Harry-San! ”
We are a group of two ladies and a teenage girl and we are very happy to have Harry as a guide! Before the trip, I did not have time to do any planning so I basically just told him that we are on a whirlwind trip and we want to pretty much cover the sights abd sounds of Okinawa. We did want to have a fruit picking experience and this time of the year, it is Shikwasa citrus fruit! We enjoyed picking Shikwasa! Harry came up with a 2-day itinerary to cater to our needs, and he and make sure we covered all that we wanted to go. He is a very experienced guide and he takes us on a learning journey as well. Our teenager loves Okinawa now and wants to go back! Very professional, very detailed in his explanation and a careful driver as well. He makes sure we are comfortable throughout our two-day trip with him. Thank you Harry-San!
