All the students from elementary through high school are responsible for cleaning for about 20 minutes after school (or sometimes after lunch before afternoon classes). They not only clean their own classrooms but the entire school building. Individual classes are assigned to specific places in the school such as the gym, the entrance, hallways, stairs, the teachers' room and even the bathroom. We have janitors at school, but they usually don't clean the building.
Pedagogically, cleaning serves two purposes: to learn how to clean and to learn how to cooperate with other students.
