I will use traditional handicrafts to illustrate the history and lifestyle of the people of Tokyo. Who were the samurai? What difference with a Ninja? How were armors crafted? I am also going to teach you all you need to know about those fierce warriors in front of a large collection of authentic weapons & armors.

Bunkyo City is in the heart of central Tokyo, just north of Chiyoda City where the Imperial Palace and Tokyo Station are. The city is Tokyo’s typical residential and academic area where I was born, grew up, and live now. We'll move around the city with a Bunkyo City Community Bus, B-guru ( “beagle”, the mascot character of the bus), and visit Edo-Tokyo Japanese gardens and other calm and pleasant sites. In this tour, we visit the beautiful Koishikawa Korakuen Garden, created in 1629. As you stroll around the central pond, you can enjoy landscapes inspired by rivers, mountains, countryside and the sea. Afterwards, we move to the place for where you can experience tea ceremony, where a tea master prepares matcha in a refined, ritualized manner. You’ll savor Japanese sweets, learn about the history and philosophy of tea ceremony, and even try making tea yourself.

“Kyoto in the Rain”

It was pouring rain and we were visiting Kyoto's most popular sights at possibly the busiest time of year -- it was a recipe for disaster. Enter Fumi, who made it work with so much less stress for us than if we'd tried to do it ourselves. Yes, it was crowded (REALLY crowded!), but Fumi was undeterred, and wove us in and around the crowds with expertise, adding in tons of insights and information along the way. We were so grateful to have her handling the logistics, leaving us the bandwidth to enjoy this beautiful city. We felt this tour was excellent value and would 100% recommend it to others.

“Perfect first day in Tokyo”

Our family of 4 (kids 12 and 13) spent our first day in Tokyo with Ritsuko. It was such a great way to start off our trip, and made it easy to learn how to navigate the city and public transit. Ritsuko was full of insights into Japanese culture and history, adding so much richness to our sight-seeing. She also went out of her way to cater to our family's interests. We love stationery, and she made detours to allow us to browse some excellent shops. We all enjoyed a lunch of conveyor belt sushi, so much that we went back several times over the course of our trip. We felt this tour was excellent value and would highly recommend!
