Japan Tour Reviews

Excellent few hours around Himeji and Koko-en with Noboru!

What a wonderful few packed hours spent with Noboru! Prior to the tour, we really appreciated the good communication regarding arrangements, as Himeji was a stop between two destinations that day, and we only had a few hours to spare before catching an onward train. We had nothing to fear, all went very smoothly. Noboru answered all our questions, was extremely knowledgeable on the castle details, and a very personable man. We hadn't anticipated the amazing design of the castle and its many floors to climb, but at each level there was an interesting corner or extra detail to point out. We wouldn't have had this if we were on our own. The place is stunning and shouldn't be missed. The second part of the tour, the Koko -en garden, was sadly a bit rushed as we had to catch our train. If I had known that this was such an exquisite place, I would have changed our train times in advance. Now we know. Of course this is nothing to do with Noboru's excellent guiding and time management. We thoroughly enjoyed our tour, and wouldn't hesitate to recommend Noboru.

Great day spent with Yukari round Kanazawa!

Meeting Yukari was a lovely experience, as her personality shone out. She had organised a great day around Kanazawa - which is such a beautiful town - and we managed to see all the highlights - and there are many! -without too much trouble. Whether we were walking, or on buses or taxis, Yukari made it all very easy, as we constantly chatted. She was knowledgable and personable, and we felt very relaxed with her. Her choice of lunch spot was great and her detour to a gold leaf gilding workshop was really appreciated, as we were also interested in this part of Kanazawa's history. All in all we have great memories of the day, and can definitely recommend Yukari.

A papermakers dream day

Megumi san is a wonderful guide. She is friendly and personable. As a papermaker this tour was perfect for me and Megumi san ensured we packed in as much as possible in the time we had together, including bringing me to different papermaker studios that I would otherwise not have found myself. The highlights included the Rakusui making experience at Ryozo and visiting the Okamoto Otaki Shrine to pay my respects to the Paper Goddess. Along the way we had a wonderful lunch at a local restaurant. However, the highlight was the privilege and honour of meeting Aki san at Iwano Heizaburou who gave the factory tour. She extremely knowledgeable and just a delight to be around. Seeing all the craftspeople in studio at work was very inspiring. I truly enjoyed my day and Megumi san. I highly recommend this tour or any tour Megumi san puts together for you!
