The time of this tour is about 4 hours. The walking distance is about 2.5 kilometers. 
The length of Nichiyouichi is 1.3 km which is the largest Sunday market in Japan. People began the market about 300 years ago. There are about 430 stalls which sell everything such as fresh fruit, vegetables, wooden products, cutting tools, young trees, wild flowers, sweets and so on. In the market you can hear local people talking in the local dialect and watch them smiling happily. Soon you will be able to join the conversation naturally, because they don’t hesitate to speak with guests. Please enjoy the unique atmosphere of this market. Hirome Ichiba is a kind of food court which is for visitors and local people. It is a must for tourists who visit Kochi. It’s a very popular place where there are about 60 stalls including restaurants, shops, bars, izakayas and so on. There you can enjoy local specialties and various foods. The price of these foods is pretty reasonable. Kochi Castle is one of the only 12 castle towers in Japan which have kept the original shape since Edo period. You can feel the history of the real castle.

As I know Makino Botanical Garden very well as a local person, I can tell you the leaves and flowers you can touch and smell.  Of course, you are not allowed to touch endangered plants. You can feel relaxed by touching and smelling natural plants. Let's enjoy the meditation and shakyo writing at Chikurinji temple. Kochi Castle, Makino Botanical Garden and Meditation

Shikoku Henro Pilgrimage is the journey to 88 sacred temples of Shikoku Island and its distance is 1,200km. The circular pilgrimage route is the most famous and popular pilgrimage in Japan. In this tour you will walk for 2.5km along the route. During the walking you will see some common scenes of rural areas such as an elementary school, street cars, rice field, grocery stores, Japanese houses and so on. You may have an opportunity to speak with local people. Let's enjoy Zazen Meditation and Shakyo writing at Chikurinji temple. You can use a chair during Shakyo and sit cross-legged on a comfortable cushion during Zazen Meditation. 

Kochi - Henro Pilgrimage, Zazen Meditation & Shakyo Writing 

The time of this tour : about 4 hours    The walking distance is about 1.5 kilometers  It takes about 30 minutes to stroll from the east end of the arcade to the west end without dropping in any shops. You can choose any starting time, for example, nine in the morning or seven in the evening. You can walk at your own pace without being rushed. You can enter the shops which you get interested in on the way even if they are not included in the shops described above. During this tour, you can experience and watch various places where Japanese people come casually regardless of age or sex. 


Kochi Half Day Strolling Tour of The Downtown

At Ino-cho Paper Museum you can know the history and culture of washi, its raw materials and its tools. Tosa washi has a history of more than 1,000 years. You can see washi making demonstration by experts and enjoy making your own original paper. Tosa washi  is highly evaluated not only in Japan but also all over the world. You can understand the reason during this tour. For over 100 years, Kure Taishomachi Ichiba Market of Nakatosa Town has been the community’s beloved shopping arcade for all kinds of foods, including freshly-caught seafood, home cooked side dishes, vegetables and fruit. After you choose your favorite fish, fishermen’s wives cook them and serve you the delicious dishes. If you’re not sure what type of fish you’re looking at, feel free to ask the friendly shop owners. Interacting with the community is part of the beauty and fun of the market! Many places of this town were used as the scenes in a famous Japanese Manga, “Tosa-no-Ippon Zuri”. And the seaport was used as a scene of an animation, “Umi-ga Kikoeru”. When you use public transportation in urban area, you see only buildings and busy streets.
