A Local Friend in Kansai — Meet Atif Hey there! I’m Atif, a travel lover who’s been calling Osaka home for the past few years. What started as a curious adventure quickly turned into a deep love for this region — the food, the people, and all the little hidden corners that make Kansai so special. Now, I spend my days sharing those discoveries with travelers who want to see the real Japan — not just the postcard version. What I Offer Fun & Flexible Tours: No boring scripts here! I plan each tour around you — whether you love taking photos, tasting street food, exploring quiet temples, or getting lost in neon-lit backstreets. Local Secrets: After years of wandering Osaka, Kyoto, Nara, and Kobe, I’ve found the best hidden gems — from tiny noodle shops to peaceful gardens and back-alley shrines. Laughs & Memories: My tours aren’t just about facts — they’re about fun. Expect stories, local legends, and maybe even a karaoke challenge (if you’re brave enough)! Why Travel with Me Because travel should feel like exploring with a local friend, not following a flag in a crowd. I wish to offer you custom made trip ideas to be able to enjoy the atmosphere of old city, Nara. I am also planning to develop trip plans to enjoy the local cultures. Please call me Yasu.

Tatsuhiro N.
It took me some 20 years to be qualified for this job and I feel honored for being able to help tourists from abroad understand our nation and culture. Japan is a beautiful country with a long history, tradition and rich cultural heritages, having various features in each of the four distinct seasons. Although there are now many visitors from abroad, mainly from Asian countries, they are mostly interested in shopping taking advantage of cheaper yen rather than understanding our people and culture. Kyoto and Nara are the two cities best known by foreign tourists, but not all the aspects of Japanese culture are concentrated there. If you visit the countryside other than these two cities, you will never fail to see the beautiful natural surroundings and people who will warmly welcome you. I wish to work as the bridge between Japanese people and tourists from all over the world.

After studying western religion, I flew to Japan to study Buddhism & Shinto. I trained as a monk in the Japanese alps of Fukui prefecture, and learned traditional crafts including washi paper-making, knife making, and tea ceremony. I've visited all 47 prefectures of Japan in my decade in Japan. Now I live in Kyoto, which has some of the grandest temples and shrines in all of Japan. My goal is to find joy through connection and share what I've learned. As I'm new to GoWithGuide and seeking reviews, I'm currently offering discounted rates!

Masa M.
My company is a tour operator in the Arashiyama area of Kyoto City. The owner is Masahiko Miyake. Arashiyama is a very attractive town. I was born and raised in Kyoto, and now I live in the Arashiyama area. Therefore, I have more knowledge and confidence about this area than most people. Arashiyama is home to the World Heritage Site Tenryu-ji Temple. This area was a villa district for aristocrats during the Heian period, so it features a beauty where nature and residences are integrated.

“Great Day with Miyu”
Miyu took my mom (71), me and 2 kids (5, 6) around Kyoto for the day. We specifically wanted someone flexible, not too focused on explaining, and who could take us to some lesser known spots. My mom specifically is usually very demanding on her travel. Miyu delivered a wonderful day - we saw a lesser known temple, a less crowded bamboo forest, and she gave us just enough interesting tidbits on the way. She also helped me buy a Japanese New Year's lottery ticket for my wife, which would have otherwise been impossible for me to do. She's easygoing, realistic, and flexible. If these are qualities you're looking for in a guide, you won't go wrong with Miyu!

“Wonderful tour to explore Kyoto”
Lisa was a great tour guide. She took us to so many places and we did not feel rushed. We even had a nice lunch. She taught us so much and answered so many questions. She even gave us great recommendations for dinner. Next time we hope to do one of her other tours!

“A Perfect Day Exploring Kyoto with Toshiyo”
We had a wonderful customized one-day tour in Kyoto with Toshiyo, and the experience was excellent from start to finish. She met us at our hotel and took care of all the logistics, allowing us to enjoy the city in a relaxed and well-organized way. The itinerary was perfectly balanced and thoughtfully planned. We visited Nijo Castle, explored the Arashiyama area—including temples and beautiful surroundings—and finished at the iconic Kinkakuji Temple. At each location, Toshiyo shared clear and insightful explanations about the history, culture, and significance of what we were seeing, which made the experience much more meaningful. Toshiyo was always attentive, flexible, and considerate of our pace and interests. She adjusted the timing as needed and made sure we were comfortable throughout the day. Her local knowledge and calm, professional approach added great value to the tour. This was an excellent way to experience Kyoto in a single day, and we highly recommend Toshiyo to anyone looking for a personalized, high-quality guided tour in Kyoto.
