Hello! My name is Keiichi. Please call me Kei. I was born and raised in Joetsu City, located in the southern part of Niigata prefecture. Joetsu was the former capital city of Echigo Province until the mid 19th century. It has a lot of historic sites and scenic spots, and most of all good people. I love my city very much. I worked for the Joetsu City office for over thirty years. During my time there, I was in charge of international relations for about ten years. Niigata has been developed as a port city at the mouth of big river. The Niigata port has been active since the 17th century, the samurai era. So, we have a lot of sightseeing sites which represent the flourishment of the town in those days. You can enjoy a wealthy merchant’s house and garden, a landlord’s mansion or a model of wooden boat which sailed all over Japan at that time. Along with those historical sites, the people’s markets are very enjoyable. Farmers and fishermen sell their fresh products at the portable tents along the street. Located on the Japan sea side of mainland Honshu, about 2 hours bullet train ride from Tokyo, Niigata city has been flourished as one of the major port towns for centuries. Niigata City Aquarium "Marinepia Nihonkai" Displaying both marine and fresh water fish in the region and aquatic animals. Dolphin shows are performed daily. "Imayotsukasa" sake brewery There is a guided tour and you can sample tasty sake. 4. Minatopia with Former Niigata Customs House There are also Former Daishi Bank building and Niigata City History Museum by the Shinano River. 6. “Excellent Tour of Niigata”
My wife and I toured Saito Villa and Imayo Tsukasa Sake Brewery with Matsuko while ported in Niigata. We very much enjoyed the tour. Matsuko is an outstanding guide. Excellent English and communicated lots of additional information about the sites we visited. Great preparation for our tour and very effective use of our limited available time. We highly recommend her.

“Fun day with Fujiko”
Fujiko went above and beyond to make our day at Niigata a success. She made sure that we had a taxi waiting for us at the pier, took us to some interesting and historical sights and shared many stories. The communication before, during and after the tour were exceptional. Her knowledge of the history and geography of the area added many details. A great day! Highly recommend Fujiko if people are coming to the area!

“Super knowledgeable of Niigata area”
We booked Keiichi for a one day guided tour of Niigata. Via messages, he asked questions to get an idea of activity level and interests and then created two itinerary options for us to choose from. He greeted us with an itinerary printout and Niigata maps for us to use the following day. We used his vehicle to travel around the different spots, which he held a wealth of knowledge about each area. Kei is a must for the Niigata tourist, you will not be disappointed with your experiences he provides. At the end of the day he shared photos he captured of us during our experiences. The highlight of the day was the fruit farm and picking our own grape bundles to cut off the vines.
