Takayama Inari Shrine
Our first stop is Takayama Inari Shrine, one of Aomori’s most atmospheric hidden places.
The shrine is famous for its beautiful rows of red torii gates. Walking through them feels almost like entering another world.
Unlike famous shrines in major cities, Takayama Inari Shrine is quiet and peaceful. It is a wonderful place for photography, a slow walk, and experiencing the mysterious atmosphere of rural Aomori.
The shrine is also known as a place to pray for good harvests, business success, and safety.
lunch
We will stop for lunch depending on the season, opening hours, and your preferences.
Possible options may include a local restaurant, seafood, ramen, or another casual meal along the route.
Lunch is flexible and can be adjusted based on your food preferences.
Tsuru-no-Mai Bridge
we will visit Tsuru no Mai Bridge, one of Aomori’s most beautiful scenic spots.
This graceful wooden bridge stretches across Tsugaru Fujimi Lake and is made with Aomori hiba wood. Its gentle arches and warm wooden design make it a beloved symbol of Tsuruta Town.
On clear days, you may see Mt. Iwaki reflected beautifully in the lake behind the bridge.
The bridge is also known as a good-luck spot for long life, because “long wooden bridge” can be associated with “long life” in Japanese.
You can walk across the bridge, take photos, and enjoy the peaceful lake scenery.

About Tour Guide Hiro K.
Hi, I’m Hiro.
With me, you can experience immersive travel that goes beyond sightseeing and connects you with local culture and everyday life in Japan. For example, you may cook with local grandmothers, walk through rice fields and farms with local farmers, taste seasonal ingredients, visit local grocery stores, stop by small coffee shops, enjoy bar hopping with locals, and experience the slower rhythm of everyday life in small-town Aomori.
I was born and raised in Aomori, which is why I have strong connections with local farmers, families, and community members. Before returning home, I spent 8 years in Tokyo serving in the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force, where I was involved in welcoming VIP guests including state guests and world leaders. Because I have experienced both Tokyo and rural Japan deeply, I strongly appreciate the warmth of local communities and the richness of life lived alongside the seasons. So if you want to experience both modern Tokyo and the authentic countryside of Japan in one journey, I may be the right guide for you.
Feel free to contact me anytime. I would be happy to welcome you to Japan.

Edible Culture: A Rare Journey into Rural Aomori
Edible Culture is a private rural Aomori experience where you see, hear, touch, feel, and finally taste our local culture. Visit a local market or a farmer friend’s production site, then step into my grandmother’s home for a hands-on cooking class and homemade lunch. This is not a sightseeing tour — it is an invitation to experience Aomori through daily life, local people, and food.
