Hakone is very popular place for one day trip from Tokyo. We will take the Shinkansen from Tokyo to Odawara and a mountain train, a ropeway and cruise Lake Ashi by the Pirate ship to enjoy her various scenery. Hakone is famous for hot spring public baths, you can try one if you want. If the weather is fine, you can see the magnificent view of Mt. Fuji from several places.

Transportation: Taking the Shinkansen from Tokyo to Odawara which runs about 250 Km/h (Discount return ticket with 4600 JPY for an adult, you can use JR pass.) It is very impressive to observe other express Shinkansen passing by at Odawara station. We will buy the Hakone Free Pass which is a very economical pass to travel Hakone. The we will take a local train to Hakone Yumoto; the entrance of Hakone. If you are staying near Shinjuku station and not interested in taking the Shinkansen, I would recommend the Romance car from Shinjuku station directly to Hakone Yumoto. This express train is not so rapid, but you can save the time to go to Tokyo station and change trains at Odawara station. (The Shinkansen from 3,500 JPY, Hakone Free Pass with 5,000 JPY for adult, 1,000 for child under 12).
Transportation: Taking a bus from Hakone Yumoto to Lake Ashi to view Mt. Fuji as early as possible when it is clear (We will take the mountain train in our return trip.)
Hakone Shrine; We will walk to the Hakone Shrine, which was established in 757. You can see the Torii gate for peace on the lake and the sanctuary of the nine headed dragon which used to suffer people.

Cruising Lake Ashi; We will take the popular pirate ship (Included in Hakone Free Pass).

At your hotel
Guide fee
Hotel pick up near Tokyo
Transportation fee of you and the guide. (about 10,000 JPN/person, including the cruising)
Lunch fee of about 2000 JPN (you and the guide)
Hotel pickup within Hakone, I can pick you up at your hotel in Hakone if you pay me extra 10,000 JPY during the tour as I live about 3 hours away from there.
1. View of Mt. Fuji; The possibility of viewing Mt Fuji depends on the season, more than 60% in winter while less than 20% in summer. But there are other interesting places in Hakone such as cruising Lake Ashi and Open Air Museum.
2. Transportations; I usually take public transportations but I can arrange a chartered taxi from Odawara if you want. It will cost about 40,000 JPY per five hours up to 4 persons including me.
3. Congestion of transportations; Hakone will be very crowded during the first week of May (Golden week holidays) and weekend days of November (Autumn color season). But I will choose the most efficient and comfortable way.
4. Suspension of the Ropeway; The ropeway to Owakudani is sometimes closed when the sulfur gas concentration of the area exceeds 0.2ppm or during severe weather conditions. In the case of suspension, I would recommend you to visit the Venetian Glass Museum by a bus.

“Yuki was the best guide for our trip to Kyoto”
I can’t say enough about Yuki! He was so organized from the beginning conversation to the end of the tour. He was knowledgeable and kept us on schedule. He showed us his Miyabi Tour of Kyoto that we chose. His I knowledge on the history, customs and Japanese culture was outstanding. You cant make a better decision than to hire Yuki for your tour. We loved Yuki and we are so happy we met him and were able to spend the day with him.

(361 reviews)Dear Kimberly Thank you for writing the review of my tour. We visited Fushimi Shrine, Sanjusangen-do Temple, Kiyomizu Temple and Gion area. It was the day before the main festival of Gion and we enjoyed to see Yasaka Shrine and Yomahoko float for the main festival. Thank you for taking my tour. Yuki
“ A Rainy Day Made Better”
If you're interesting in visiting historical sites and learning about Japanese culture, Yuki is the guide for you! While it rained must of our day in Tokyo, it did not make it any less exciting, fun, and interesting. Yuki added color to every place that we went to. He taught us how to use the subway, how to read our fortunes, and how to properly enter and exit shrines. This you cannot learn just by reading signs. This is what I believe is important in respecting and appreciating the Japanese culture. He has an iPad with information on each location which provided an additional knowledge and fun facts. He is very kind, friendly, and welcoming. He only provides tours around 3 times a week, so do not wait to book him! We cannot recommend him enough. Thank you Yuki for sharing your day with us. We are so grateful and can only hope our paths cross again. - Alisa

(361 reviews)Dear Alisa Thank you for your review. It was a rainy day but we took the advantage by visiting less crowded quiet gardens. There are lotus and Iris flowers blooming even better under the rainy weather. Thank you for taking my Tokyo tour. Yuki

(361 reviews)Dear Meghan Thank you very much for wring the review of my Hakone tour on the same day. It was cloudy but Mt. Fuji appeared at the last minutes. It was unfortunate that the Shinkansen had a big trouble on our return trip to Tokyo so that we changed our plan to take a local train instead. Thank you again for taking my tour. Yuki
