Let’s explore Chiran’s beautifully preserved samurai village from the Edo period. Stroll through peaceful gardens and learn about the samurai lifestyle. Visit the Kamikaze museum garden (and inside if time allows), then drive past lush tea fields to breathtaking views of Japan’s southern coast. Enjoy a tasty local meal of sōmen noodles and fresh trout, and relax by Lake Ikeda with the majestic Kaimon volcano. If time allows, we’ll visit hidden spots only locals know!

Meeting, Getting to know each other and leaving to south kagoshima to chiran Town.
Chiran Samurai Residence
Step into Chiran’s beautifully preserved samurai village and stroll through its elegant gardens. Learn how the samurai lived and how they designed these peaceful spaces centuries ago.
Chiran is also famous for its high-quality green tea — among the best in Japan. For those interested, we can stop at a local tea shop to taste different varieties and enjoy a delicious matcha soft-serve ice cream, loved by kids and adults alike.
Near the village, colorful koi fish swim in the canal, and children love feeding them — a simple joy that adds charm to the visit.
KAMIKAZE Museum
We’ll stop by the Kamikaze museum garden to see the outdoor exhibits and memorial park — entry to the museum is optional, depending on your interest and time. Inside, you’ll find one of Japan’s most moving war museums, presenting the tragedy from a Japanese perspective. It focuses on the families whose sons were sent, often against their will, to carry out one of the most extreme acts of wartime sacrifice in human history — missions whose necessity remains debated to this day.
Then we’ll drive past lush tea fields to breathtaking views of the southern coast.
Nature View Point
We’ll stop at a nice spot with a great view of Kaimon volcano and the ocean. It’s a well-known place, and I’ll choose the best viewpoint depending on the weather that day. We’ll take a short walk, enjoy the fresh air, and of course — snap a few photos to remember the moment.
Flowing Somen Restaurant
There’s an amazing restaurant tucked away in a quiet valley, right next to a fresh mountain spring. Locals love it — not just for the food, but for the fun atmosphere too. They serve fresh trout and cold sōmen noodles swimming in the fresh spring water. It’s tasty, relaxed, and a good atmosfair. Kids also love it !
Lake IKEDA
We’ll make a short stop at Lake Ikeda - the Biggest lake in Kyushu island. take photos with the lake and Mt. Kaimon in the background. If time allows, we can enjoy a quick coffee break nearby, or continue to another beautiful nature spot that only us locals knows.
MARINE PORT
Arriving back to the port terminal (1 hour before Ship departure)
and It's time to say Bye Bye..

This tour is designed as a car-driven experience. With a car or a minivan, we can reach the most beautiful spots on the Satsuma Peninsula efficiently, without wasting time. It’s perfect for hotel or cruise port pickup, as there’s no public transport available from the port.
If anyone has a gluten allergy, we can skip or change the dining location to suit your needs.

“Special day with Yaron touring Chirian and the scenic coast.”
Yaron was such a pleasure to tour with. His communication with us before our tour was outstanding. He was interested in learning about our interests and wanted to tailor our tour to them. He promptly picked us up at our hotel at the hour requested. We felt confident driving with him and appreciated the comfort of his car. Highlights of the day included our visit to Chiran Samurai residence street. It was a wonderful experience and Yaron was exceptionally caring with our mobility issues. Yaron took us to remote locations throughout our tour that only his experience as a local resident would know about including a beautiful waterfall. We then experienced a traditional Japanese lunch in the village of Ibusuki in a building that was a former Samurai residence. It was such a treat and the food and service was outstanding. We also did a coastal drive and saw the surfers in the ocean and another amazing volcano. To top it off before the return to Kagoshima, Yaron was kind enough to take us to a local bakery for some amazing baked goods. Yaron made the day special. We would highly recommend him. He is an exceptional tour guide and speaks excellent English as well as Japanese.

“Wonderful insight into samurai and kamikaze culture, rounded out with beautiful scenery”
Yaron was a very pleasant and knowledgeable guide. He was very cognizant of meeting our expressed interests by showing us some hidden treasures along the route and some great photography spots. We enjoyed our walk through Chiran among the former samurai houses and amazing gardens while learning some history. A quick stop at the museum for kamikaze gave us some insight into their sacrifice. Seeing tea fields from a high vantage point was lovely. Later we were able to eventually get a good view of the volcano from a couple of different spots. The sea horse farm was enchanting in such an out of the way spot with such panoramic views. Lunch was a lot of fun at a unique restaurant by a waterfall fishing noodles for our soup out of a spinning container filled with fresh spring water. All in all, a very pleasant day led by a wonderful guide who sincerely wanted to do his best for our tour. Highly recommend.

“An unforgettable day discovering the hidden gems of Kagoshima”
This tour was truly one of the highlights of our visit to Kagoshima. A big thank you to our guide Yaron for his warmth, knowledge, and wonderful hospitality throughout the day. We started the day with a relaxing sand bath and onsen, which was such a unique and refreshing experience. From there, the journey continued with many memorable stops — exploring the beautifully preserved Chiran Samurai Residences, visiting the deeply moving Kamikaze site, enjoying the scenic views at Lake Ikeda, and having fun at the flowing somen restaurant. Yaron made the entire experience smooth, engaging, and very personal with his stories and insights.
