Terukuni shrine
Shimazu Nariakira, the 11th head of Satsuma domain, is enshrined as a deity here. One reason he became to be enshrined here was based on the wishes of people who admired and revered his virtues.
Then, walk aroud the former castle area, large-scale stone walls, newly restored castle gate, and vast old castle grounds.

Sengan-en, a feudal lord villa and spacious garden, , the world cultural heritage site

“Beautiful day in Kagoshima ”
Had a beautiful day with Hitomi visiting Kagoshima. Pottery and whisky distillery were fabulous places to visit on a rainy day. Our lunch was delicious and healthy. We absolutely loved the entire day. Thanks Hitomi. You are a fantastic guide.

“A great customizable tour of a fascinating area!”
Our guide, Hitomi A. was wonderful! Very knowledgeable, kind and empathetic. Our driver, Mr. Take was also great. One of us uses a rolling walker, so they made sure the car trunk was large enough to handle it easily. They took us to the volcanic area Sakurajima and gave us a real insight into the whole are. Hitomi suggested a restaurant that specialized in Waygu Beef (the best comes from Kagashima) and it was delicious and very reasonably priced. The Sengan-en Garden and Villa gave us a great background on the feudal system in Japan as well as the beginning of the Meiji era. It was also beautiful to boot! I cannot recommend Hitomi A. highly enough. Thank you for making this such a wonderful experience!
