Meeting Point
Keihan Fushimi-Momoyama Station OR Kintetsu Momoyamagoryō-mae Station
- I will meet you at either: 1) Keihan Fushimi-Momoyama Station (Keihan is the train company name) OR 2) Kintetsu Momoyamagoryō-mae Station (Kintetsu is the train company name) Note: Please, try to show up 5 to 10 minutes before the tour starts.
Otesuji Shopping Arcade
First, we will walk through the Otesuji Shopping Arcade (Otesuji Shōtengai in Japanese; pronounced: Show-ten-guy), which is the main commercial street in Fushimi, Kyoto, known for its local shops, restaurants, and historical charm.
Gekkeikan Okura Sake Museum
Second, we will go to the Gekkeikan Okura SAKE Museum, which is a space where you can sense the spirit of Fushimi, its history and SAKE culture; and of Gekkeikan, a company that has led the development of SAKE-brewing in this area and in Japan. We will walk around the museum and learn about the Gekkeikan company, watch a video of how SAKE is made, and we will enjoy tasting a range of SAKE brewed with the underground water that is called "Fushimi's hidden water" (3 cups of SAKE, and a souvenir SAKE cup) (included in the price).
Kizakura Kappa Country SAKE Brewery
After the museum, we will head to the Kizakura Kappa Country SAKE Brewery (1 of the 18 SAKE breweries in the Fushimi area) and enjoy 2 cups of SAKE (included in the price).
Lunch
Then it's lunchtime. We will go to the famous Tsuki no Kurabito (Moon's Sake Brewer) restaurant for a delicious Japanese-style lunch. This name reflects the restaurant's connection to SAKE brewing, as it is housed in a renovated SAKE brewery in Fushimi.
(Lunch + 1 cup of SAKE) (included in the price)
Fushimi SAKE Village
Lastly, after lunch, we will go to the Fushimi SAKE Village, a SAKE-themed dining complex that brings together multiple local breweries under one roof. We will specifically go to the Sakagura SAKE Brewery (a 23m long counter) and try all the brands from each of the 18 SAKE breweries in Fushimi called the "SAKE Tasting Set from 18 Breweries".
(= 18 samples (20ml. cups) of SAKE) (included in the price)

Hello everyone. My name is Jodie. It's very nice to meet you. I’m originally from St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada (near Niagara Falls), but I live and work in Kyoto, Japan. I’ve been in Japan (Kyoto) for about 23 years, and I teach English as a Second/Foreign Language (ESL/EFL) full-time at a couple of universities in Kyoto.
I offer 3 types of tours: bicycle tours, scooter/motorbike – 125cc tours (solo guest only), and Sake drinking tours, and I love doing them because I love riding my bicycle, driving my scooter, and walking around this amazing city (Japan’s capital from 794-1868; sometimes called The 1000-Year Capital). I love exploring and discovering more about this amazing city, and I'd love to do this together with you.
I'll take you down narrow alleys, riverside paths, show you some popular sights (and some hidden gems), and we'll learn and discover about Kyoto together as I am still learning about Kyoto (e.g., its shrines, temples, and history) myself. I will do my best to be of use to all of you.
I know that getting long lists of names and dates from Japanese history can be hard to keep up with, and possibly boring, so I’m not a translator, but a guide who will discover Kyoto with you. I’ll introduce you to some modern culture in Kyoto (and Japan), and to daily life as well.
I’m here to make your trip to Kyoto an unforgettable memory, and I look forward to meeting you and showing you around this AMAZING city. And remember: What’s the best way to see Kyoto? On 2 wheels, and, on foot!
