Jingoji temple

Situated on Mt. Takao northwest of Kyoto, Jingoji was founded in the 8th century by Wake no Kiyomaro to promote peace. Its revered Kondo Hall enshrines Yakushi Nyorai, the Medicine Buddha, creating a solemn, sacred presence. Though the stone steps can be a challenge, charming rest spots and eateries are located in the path. In autumn, the temple is wrapped in breathtaking beautiful color of trees.
