Meeting Point
Kintestu Nara Station
- It’s very easy to get to Nara from either Osaka or Kyoto. You can take the Kintetsu Line directly to Nara Station.
Kofuku-ji Temple
Kofuku-ji Temple was established in Nara at the same time as the capital in 710. It is famous for it's five-storied pagoda, the second tallest wooden pagoda in Japan just seven meters shorter than the five-storied pagoda at Kyoto's Toji Temple. See this temple for yourself at sunrise!
Kasuga Grand Shrine
Kasuga Grand Shrine is famous for it's lanterns, which have been donated by worshippers. There are approximately 3000 stone and bronze lanterns, standing as one of Japan's most historical shrines. It holds significance as the sacred grounds that inspired the presence of deer in Nara Park.
Todai-ji Temple
Todaiji Temple is famous for its Great Buddha Statue, the biggest Buddha statue in Japan. Until recently, this temple's man hall was the world's largest wooden building. It looks beautiful but once you know the history to why it was built and it's historical significance, you will be shocked!
Nara Park
Nara Park is home to thousands of wild deers. These deers are considered to be sacred because it's said that one of the 4 gods in Kasuga Shrine rode the deer to Nara. The cute thing about these deers is that they bow at you when you feed them! It's an experience that everyone should try!
Ending Point
Nara Park

Thank you so much for your wonderful review! I truly enjoyed spending these two days in Japan with both of your families. We experienced everything we had hoped for, shared many wonderful moments, and learned so much about Japan’s culture and history together. Seeing the children having so much fun and enjoying every part of the journey meant more to me than anything else. That’s the most rewarding part of being a guide. Thank you again for your trust. I hope that one day, when the children are grown up and return to Japan on their own, they’ll still remember me. I wish you and your families all the very best, and I sincerely hope our paths cross again someday. Thank you!

“Excellent Guide - Highly Recommend ”
As a travel advisor, I arranged an all-day Kyoto tour with Akira for clients of mine who were staying in Osaka, and I could not have been happier with the experience. Akira picked them up directly from their hotel, making everything seamless from the start, and gave them a wonderful introduction to Kyoto’s major highlights. My guests had an excellent day and spoke very highly of him afterward, especially their 11 year old son. They found him to be incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and engaging, and he made the experience both enjoyable and informative. I also really appreciated Akira’s communication throughout the planning process. He was responsive, organized, and easy to work with, which gave me great confidence in recommending him to my clients. Based on this experience, I would absolutely book Akira again for future guests, and I would not hesitate to join one of his tours myself. I highly recommend him to anyone looking for a professional, personable, and knowledgeable guide in Kyoto or the surrounding cities.

“Best Guide in Japan”
We spent 2-weeks in Japan and had 5 guides in various places. Akira was the best by a mile! From the moment he met us to the the end of the day, he was an EXCELLENT host. His knowledge, enthusiasm, language skills and thoughtfulness could not have been better. His car was spotless and comfortable. His tours were really well thought out. He was great fun and super polite. His explanations of the history/culture/background of every site was superb. And, when we arrived at a temple and realised we were a little short of cash, he ran back to his car to grab some, to keep our day moving along smoothly. He also introduced us to a secret location for an amazing lunch. Overall - it was a pleasure to spend the day with him. He only gets 5-stars because I cannot give him 6. Do not hesitate to book him - he is a legend!
