08:00 AM

Meeting Point

Kintestu Nara Station

- It’s very easy to get to Nara from either Osaka or Kyoto. You can take the Kintetsu Line directly to Nara Station.

09:00 AM

Kofuku-ji Temple

Kofuku-ji Temple was established in Nara at the same time as the capital in 710. It is famous for it's five-storied pagoda, the second tallest wooden pagoda in Japan just seven meters shorter than the five-storied pagoda at Kyoto's Toji Temple. See this temple for yourself at sunrise!

10:20 AM

Kasuga Grand Shrine

Kasuga Grand Shrine is famous for it's lanterns, which have been donated by worshippers. There are approximately 3000 stone and bronze lanterns, standing as one of Japan's most historical shrines. It holds significance as the sacred grounds that inspired the presence of deer in Nara Park.

11:30 AM

Todai-ji Temple

Todaiji Temple is famous for its Great Buddha Statue, the biggest Buddha statue in Japan. Until recently, this temple's man hall was the world's largest wooden building. It looks beautiful but once you know the history to why it was built and it's historical significance, you will be shocked!

12:20 PM

Nara Park

Nara Park is home to thousands of wild deers. These deers are considered to be sacred because it's said that one of the 4 gods in Kasuga Shrine rode the deer to Nara. The cute thing about these deers is that they bow at you when you feed them! It's an experience that everyone should try!

Reviews

A great introduction to amazing Osaka

Akira met us at the cruise ship port and took us to the beautifully restored Osaka Castle. That was followed with a visit to the Hokoku Shinto Shrine. We had a delicious traditional lunch of Osaka Okonomiyaki at a restaurant in the colouful Shinsekai district. Next we visited Shinennoji, the oldest Buddhist Temple in Japan, where Akira explained the differences in beliefs between Shinto and Buddhist religions, before we returned to the ship. Akira’s knowledge of Japanese history and religion, Ninjas and Samurais was amazing. We learned so much and had a perfect day.

Great Communicator and Guide

We are very detail-oriented travelers with packed, carefully planned itineraries. Clear and thorough communication with our guide is essential to us, and Akira exceeded every expectation. His responses before our trip were prompt, detailed, and incredibly reassuring, giving us complete peace of mind prior to arrival. Meeting him was effortless, and his English is excellent. He is both a skilled driver and a knowledgeable guide. Akira thoughtfully suggested adjusting the order of our stops based on traffic patterns and his deep understanding of the city, which allowed us to maximize our time. His expertise made such a difference that we gladly hired him again. Highly recommended.

Spectacular Tour Guide

We are very demanding customers. We plan schedules that are very complex. We want to see everything and we don't stop for food. For that reason, it is extremely important that we can communicate thoroughly with the guide to made sure that they are on the same page with us. We could not be happier with Akira. His responses are super fast and thorough. It gave us total peace of mind before arriving. Meeting Akira was a breeze. He speaks great English and is great guide and driver. He helped us with everything we needed suggested a different sequence of stops based on his knowledge of traffic and the city so we made the most out of our time. So much so that we hired him again. On this trip we went to Nara, Byodo-In, Fushimi Inari and more.
