08:00 AM

Meeting Point

Kintestu Nara Station

- It’s very easy to get to Nara from either Osaka or Kyoto. You can take the Kintetsu Line directly to Nara Station.

09:00 AM

Kofuku-ji Temple

Kofuku-ji Temple was established in Nara at the same time as the capital in 710. It is famous for it's five-storied pagoda, the second tallest wooden pagoda in Japan just seven meters shorter than the five-storied pagoda at Kyoto's Toji Temple. See this temple for yourself at sunrise!

10:20 AM

Kasuga Grand Shrine

Kasuga Grand Shrine is famous for it's lanterns, which have been donated by worshippers. There are approximately 3000 stone and bronze lanterns, standing as one of Japan's most historical shrines. It holds significance as the sacred grounds that inspired the presence of deer in Nara Park.

11:30 AM

Todai-ji Temple

Todaiji Temple is famous for its Great Buddha Statue, the biggest Buddha statue in Japan. Until recently, this temple's man hall was the world's largest wooden building. It looks beautiful but once you know the history to why it was built and it's historical significance, you will be shocked!

12:20 PM

Nara Park

Nara Park is home to thousands of wild deers. These deers are considered to be sacred because it's said that one of the 4 gods in Kasuga Shrine rode the deer to Nara. The cute thing about these deers is that they bow at you when you feed them! It's an experience that everyone should try!

Akira Saved The Day!

Our family spent 2 days with Akira showing us around Kyoto. On the second day we had a pretty negative experience with a planned bike tour to the bamboo forest and had to cancel it last minute. Akira came up with an alternative plan that honestly was better than what the bike tour would have been. We were still able to go to the bamboo forest but in a more relaxed way and Akira also showed us a charming street with stores that my kids loved exploring. Akira helped us turn a rough spot into a fun and memorable afternoon. He is awesome!

Yes, that day was certainly an unforgettable one for all of us. We went through quite a lot together, and as we all know, things do not always go according to plan. However, we managed to handle the unexpected challenges in the best way possible. Despite everything, I believe we were still able to visit all the places you wanted to see and accomplish everything we had hoped to do. In the end, what started as a difficult situation turned into something positive, and I hope it will remain a special and memorable part of your trip. Thank you again, and I truly hope we will have the opportunity to meet each other again in the future. Wishing you many wonderful memories from your time here in Japan.

Great afternoon in Kyoto

Our family had a great experience with Akira as our guide. He was friendly, flexible, and knowledgeable. He made sure the kids understood the history of temples and shrines in Kyoto. He also helped us understand the Geisha history and training while we were walking around Gion. Akira spent a second day with our family and was very flexible to change up the plans based on what my kids seemed really interested in during the trip. We would recommend Akira to any family visiting Kyoto.

Thank you very much for your kind review. It was truly a pleasure and an honor to meet your family here in Kyoto. We shared a wonderful time together, and honestly, it felt a little too short. I wish we could have spent more time together exploring even more of Japan’s history and culture. Thank you again, and I sincerely hope you enjoyed your trip and created many wonderful memories. Wishing you all the best, and I hope our paths cross again someday.
