Hello! I'm Toshi, your guide at Tokyo.

In this tour, you can enjoy the handwriting of Shodo(Calligraphy) easily. I have a special, a kind of magical sheet for calligraphy lesson, so you can try calligraphy with no preparation. I'll give you the tips of writing beautiful Chinese Kanji characters.

After the lesson, I'd like to show you Setagaya area. I was born and raised at Tokyo, Setagaya Ward. I love my birthplace. It's my pleasure if you feel enjoyable to visit my town.

Arrival at the place of Shodo lesson(Shoin-Jinja-Mae)

The practice location is a corner of a bookshop space that is open to the public as part of the local community. You can enjoy a familiar calligraphy here. There is no need to worry about getting your hands and clothes dirty with ink. I have a special calligraphy lesson sheet, so you only do that simply dip your brush in water and enjoy calligraphy as you wish. I will help you to write beautiful and cool Kanji Characters with some tips. At the end of the workshop, I will provide calligraphy-related souvenirs.

Lunch around Shoin-Jinja-Mae Sta.

The area around the workshop location is a typical old Tokyo shopping street, where you can enjoy a variety of different types of food. If you like the atmosphere of the workshop venue, you can buy a box lunch and eat it inside.

Walking tour

This area is an interesting place with shrines and temples dedicated to both the thinker who was executed and the politician who punished him just before the Meiji Restoration. One of them houses a number of ornaments called Beckoning Cats(Makekineko).

Finally, visitors enjoy a tramline on display that runs through the local line.

Tour Important Information

If you want to try Indian brush writing, your clothing might get dirty during the workshop. I recommend to you to wear clothes that you don't mind getting dirt. In the workshop, I will tell you how to write beautiful Kanji Characters in an easy way, even if you don't know anything about Kanji Character.

I was born and raised in Tokyo, still am living here. I love my birthplace. I also walking tours of my hometown, a place I am very familiar with. Although it is not one of Tokyo's representative sightseeing spots, I planned this tour to give visitors a sense of the real Tokyo, which is not so far removed from their ordinary casual lives.

Hello！ I’m Toshi.

I’m a National Government Licensed Guide Interpreter. I was born and raised in Tokyo. In addition, I had been working for almost five years as a chauffeur. Therefore, I’m very familiar with both road conditions and sightseeing spots in Tokyo.

Tokyo is a special city in the world which has lots of sightseeing spots both brand new and traditional, and Tokyo is very clean and safe. I’m very fond of this city. It is my pleasure if I can share with you about many attractive things of Tokyo City.

My hobby is driving my car. I always completed nationwide all 47 prefectures by my own car. If you want, I can showcase many topics based my experiences, such as hot springs in the middle of winter, castle hopping, delicious local foods, and so on.

One of my interests is calligraphy. I’d really like to be a master of calligraphy. I can also arrange tours that incorporate a calligraphy experiences. Next June, I will be opening a booth at an art gallery café in Brooklyn, New York.

Through Japanese culture, I want to connect with people from all over the world.
