Do you know Osamu Dazai? He was one of famous Japanese writers, known for works such as "No Longer Human"(Ningen Shikkaku) or "The setting sun"(Syayou). Almost japanese students once have read his work in the textbook. Let's walk around Mitaka where he lived / died and talk about literature!

- JR Mitaka station south exit
Dazai Osamu Literary Salon
This salon was built to commemorate one of the Japanese great author. It is located on the place of former liquar shop where Dazai often visited. There are his books and sometimes have events regarding to him. I will explain what era he lived and what kind of authors he was influenced on.
Zenrin ji temple
This is where his grave is located on. Near his grave, you can see another famous japanese author's grave "Ogai Mori".
Mitaka Station Over Pass
One of his favorite spots in Mitaka, and we can see the JR line and the town of Mitaka.
Tamagawa Josui(waterway)
This is where he and his lover took suicide. There is a stone taken from Aomori (his hometown).
Mitaka City Gallery of Art
It reproduces the room where he lived in 1940s.

There are some coffee shops and cafes you can enjoy a local vibe. I will take you and if we have time, we can talk about literature, books, culture so on.
