USA Commodore Matthew Perry came to Tokyo bay, 1853, to open the door of Japan.  This incident created a new era, which could boosted trading and introducing advanced foreign culture.   Yokohama is one of the entrance gates for civilization in Japan.

Yokohama Osanbashi Pier, international seaport terminal, is so nice !  Yokohama is one of the major ports in Japan as well as Kobe.  The terminal provides clean and convenient function to accomodate many passengers.  CIQ procedure is also carried out here.

Hikawa-maru was Japanese Ocean Liner owned by Nippon-Yusen, NYK, made a maiden voyage from Kobe to Seattle in 1930.  She is permanently berthed as a museum ship at Yamashita Park, Yokohama.   I want to say thank you Hikawamaru, your great job !

In the famous nautical school in Hakodate, Hokkaido, greatley contributed training a lot of professional seamen in the early 20 century to help marine cuntry Japan.   This model is training sail ship, named Hokko-maru.  We can reminisce old golden days when people were dreaming over the Ocean.
