“Awesome Arima Onsen day-trip”
I wanted to visit Arima Onsen, known for it's amazing healing properties, however, being unfamiliar with the Kansai area decided to go with a highly customized tour that would use the Shinkansen as well as the day use of Onsen including lunch. I used Mary's guide service for my daughter previously, and was sure she could come up with a great tour plan for me. It ended up being one of the best guided tours I have taken thus far. Not only did Mary plan every detail of the tour per my requests, but my guide, Layla, was exemplary in her planning and research of the Arima Onsen area that we visited. The highlights of the tour included: 1. Arima Onsen Ginsuisou Choraku - this ryokan was wonderful and beyond description as the pictures don't do it justice. Both the silver and gold springs were very clean and pleasant and I had the most relaxing and invigorating time with it's day usage. 2. Kaiseki lunch - the traditional and seasonal meal far exceeded my expectations as it was absolutely a gorgeous peace of art in itself. 3. Mt. Rokko Ropeway - initially not part of the tour but we had arrived early and were able to take the ropeway to the top of the mountain with amazing views of Kobe and Osaka. In summary, I was touched by the care and attentiveness that my guide, Layla, exhibited during the tour. Everything went smoothly even when we had to go off the plan such as the detour to Mt. Rokko per my last-minute request. Not only did she thoroughly research the area regaling me with in-depth knowledge of the history and cultural significance of Arima, but Layla also did little things like bring a small electric fan so I could cool down in the very hot weather. She was really organized and did not miss a beat. I highly recommend Mary and tour guide Layla for any future tours in Kansai. I could not have done this Arima Onsen excursion without them. Thank You!

“Exciting and educational”
Thank you, Michiko-san, for this tour! We truly made the best out of our time by visiting so many places, thanks to you, and it was both exciting and educational. In one day, we were able to visit: - Yasaka Shrine - Shimogamo Shrine - The Golden Temple - Tenryu-ji Temple (and bamboo forest) We also really appreciated how you adapted the tour so that we could learn not only about Kyoto’s history, but also how to pray at both Shinto shrines and Buddhist temples. I especially enjoyed talking with you in the car; I could see how much you wanted us to discover Kyoto. Thank you as well for making us discover such savoury food in a local restaurant, a true secret gem, and bringing us to buy some yukatas (summer kimonos). It was a wonderful experience and we had a lot of fun!

Thank you so much, Ayli-san. I was really healed by the warm energy of your family. I was especially happy to introduce you to the soy sauce company (haha). And thank you for enjoying the yukatas! The patterns recommended by the shop are based on old Japanese ideas, so please wear them many times. I was also surprised by your great talent for drawing! Japan is such a fun place, and I believe your life will shine even brighter here. Because your family knows how to enjoy life so well, I’m sure you will have wonderful days ahead! with BIG LOVE! MICHIKO

Absolutely! Kyoto has achieved the perfect balance of remaining close to its historical roots as Japan's original capital, rich in culture and customs, while including modern conveniences and tourist-friendly services. It's one of Japan's most tour-conscious cities, next to Tokyo.
That's a tough one! Kyoto has history, slow living, and breathtaking landscapes. Osaka has fantastic food and modern conveniences and is slightly more affordable.
Osaka is great for;
Kyoto is ideal for;
The greatest thing about these two cities is that they're just a train ride away from one another. So whichever you decide, the other option is only 15 minutes away.
Kyoto is often considered more beautiful than Tokyo because of the visually stunning architecture and Edo period buildings, especially those that highlight the nagare-zukuri style. It’s almost like a time machine. City lovers will consider Tokyo more beautiful thanks to its glowing billboards, high-end hotels, buzzing restaurants, and nightlife. Our recommendation? See both and decide for yourself. Tokyo and Kyoto are only 2 hours apart.
