You never see Tokyo until you see Edo. By joying the tour, you will experience the present Japanese culture, history, the way of thinking, and a sense of beauty developed from the Edo period. I am sure I provides you with the most impressive tour.

In 1603 the first Tokugawa shogun, established the Edo government. This is the beginning of Edo, From then on, Tokyo's history & Tokyo culture started.

What to Expect

There are a lot of attractions in Tokyo. This tour focuses on experience and realizing Tokyo & Edo culture.

●Edo-Tokyo Museum is the best place to learn Edo and the transition from Edo to Tokyo. For example, what are emperors, shoguns, and feudal lords and their roles in the Edo period. After that, we walk around the Ryogoku neighborhood.

- Ryogoku Edo NOREN is a food mall. You can see a sumo ring and try to taste Japanese sake (300 yen).

- Ryogoku Sumo Arena is where sumo tournaments are held. We can visit Sumo museum, if it is open.

- Former Yasuda Garden is a Japanese garden.

- Tokyo Memorial Temple was built to remember the people who died in the Great Kanto Earthquake in 1923 and the Great Tokyo Air Raid 1945.

- Walking along the Sumida river (15 minutes), we take a train to Asakusa.

● Asakusa has the oldest temple and shrine in Tokyo and is the most popular place among the Japanese and foreign people. And it is famous for its Nakamise street (250m long) lined with about 50 small shops, where you can enjoy (window) shopping. Also you will learn how to purify yourself and pray for shinto deities.

● Tokyo Cruise (the Sumida river: Asakusa to Hamarikyu Garden) takes about 40 minutes. The ocean views are waiting for you.

● Hama-rikyu Gardens is one of the three most beautiful Japanese style gardens in Tokyo. (This is my opinion.) It was once the family garden of Tokugawa shoguns in the Edo period which functioned as an outer citadel defending the Edo Castle. If you are interested in Japanese tea called "matcha" made from powdered green tea leaves, you can try to have one.

If you request another place, I can arrange it. (For example, if you have visited Asakusa already, I will recommend visiting the Imperial Palace or the Tokyo Skytree instead of Asakusa.)

3 tours in Tokyo and environs

We had 3 different tours with Nobuo - 1 at the Edo Royal Palace in Tokyo, 1 was a gereral tour of all of Tokyo and one was a trip to the country to see Mt. Fuji. Nobuo san educated us in the Japanese culture. After telling him our likes, he developed a customized tour schedule seeing the sites that were most important to us. He was very respectful and polite. He was also flexible as sometimes weather and traffic changes your plans. We wanted to see the tourist attractions but he also took us to places where we met the locals and had meals with the Japanese people. We saw things that we would have never seen if not for him. He also knew about timing so that we could accomplish everything in a fairly relaxed way and not rush.

Nobuo K.

It's very kinf of you. I am very happy to hear that. Please let me know when you come to Japan, I am looking forward to seeeing you again. much appeciated.

Excellent and Premium Service

Fantastic arrangements by Nobuo made our progress in Tokyo without any problems whatever. Would heartily recommend his services to anyone. He was very helpful in getting us everything that we needed to do on arrival at Narita and guided us to the appropriate trains. Without him we would have been completely lost. We are very grateful for his sublime services. We would heartily recommend his services to anyone.
