Basic concept of this tour is to cover all the key sites of Tokyo. You will see both the old and new faces of Metropolitan Tokyo. Tokyo has a unique and dynamic history after its designation as Japan's capital in 1868. This tour is based on public transportation, so it will involve some walkings but I will accommodate the amount of walking depending on how much you wish to walk. Regardless of the season, I will include the seasonal beauty of Tokyo for your fullest satisfaction.
This itinerary can be customized to meet your needs and preferences. Send me a message with your requests!
Meeting Point
At your hotel in Tokyo 23 Districts
Your hotel in Tokyo`s 23 districs
I will meet you at your hotel in Tokyo to start the tour.
World's famous Scramble Crossing of Shibuya (30 minutes) (No admission fee)
Amazingly, at the peak time, 3000 people cross this point from 5 different directions in one signal interval and the number tops as 500,000 per day that cross this intersection. This is some unique phenomena of human activity. In fact, all those people are headed for a certain objective, mostly to work. I would be very happy to take your pictures right in this intersection.
Meiji Jingu Shrine (1 hour) (No admission fee)
Meiji Jingu Shrine is one of the most renowned Shinto Shrines of Japan. It deifies Emperor Meiji who is regarded as the key person who made great contribution to modernize Japan after the end of Edo Era. If you visit Meiji Shrine, you will have a clear idea of Shinto - the indigenous religion of Japan. I will introduce the formal ritual of Shinto prayers, praying for the continued safe journey for you and yours. This always is a great starting point of your Tokyo tour.
Harajuku : (1 hour) Japan's #1 pop culture district (60 minutes) (No admission fee)
After you have reviewed Japan's modern history at Meiji Jungu Shrine, you will quickly wind your clock to the 21st century to witness one of Japan's most exiting pop culture spots. You will enjoy Japan's newest youth fasions, cute animal cafes and "pop" snack shops. I guarantee you will feel at least 10 years younger (^^)!!!
The Imperial Palace Garden : Residence of Japan's Emperor - site of the old Edo castle (No admission fee)
The Imperial Palace Garden is approx. 1 million square meter facility where our Emperor and Empress reside. This admission free park will bring you back to the 17th century as it used to be the residence of Tokugawa Shogunate. You will enjoy the history of modern Japan feeling the contrast between the Edo era and the 21st century. I will go over the details of Japan's modern history with dramatic stories of Edo Shogunate foundation and Meiji Restoration.
Lunch at an authentic Japanese restaurant for your favorite cuisine (60 minutes)
Your preferences and food restrictions will be carefully considered and I will make sure you will enjoy authentic Japanese cuisine to the fullest.
Asakusa : Tokyo's oldest Buddhist Temple - historical wonderland (No admission fee)
Asakusa has Tokyo's oldest Buddhist Temple - "SEN-SO-JI". The fact that Tokyo did have sophisticated culture as early as in the 7th century is not well known while we all focus on Kyoto and Nara when discussing Japan`s history. Asakusa is Tokyo's No.1 place to feel and experience old history of Tokyo.
Tokyo Sky Tree : World's highest broadcast tower for the bird`s eye view (60 minutes) (Admission Fee of Yen 2,100 or Yen 3,100)
Tokyo Sky Tree Tower is Japan's highest construction and the 2nd highest construction after Dubai's Burj Khalifa Tower. It commands a great view of Metropolitan Tokyo.
The last visiting point (or your hotel)
For your most productive use of time, I would suggest that you end the tour at the last visiting point, not at your hotel. But of course, if you feel more comfortable with me escorting you back to the hotel, I would be happy to do so but in that case we will have to leave the last visiting point (Tokyo Sky Tree) approx. 40 minutes earlier than 5 pm which would be 4:20 pm. In that case, I will make some adjustments at the spots prior to the last visiting point.
Ending Point

For the public transport, the total cost should be Yen 1600 for all day railway pass which entitles you to ride Tokyo Metro Subways, Tokyo Municipal Subways and JR in Tokyo. “Wonderful day with tom”
Our two days with Tom were such a wonderful experience and introduction to Tokyo. He met us at our hotel and we instantly bonded over the fact that he had lived in the USA for many years. He was such an intelligent and professional guide who showed us the best of Tokyo in two full days. We walked all over the subway system with ease and experienced so many of the top sites in Tokyo. I cannot say enough about how wonderful Tom is as a guide. And will be recommending him to everyone I know.

Good thoughts radiate. Lin and the team were so kind and thoughtful. During those two days while I luckily had a chance to guide them, I have never had a notion that I was working. As we say it, time flies when we are having fun. It was such a quality time for me to spend with a nice person as Lin and a group. Meeting with such a nice person at work gives me a wonderful perspective for the future, meaning I look forward to the next job. Human psychology is that good experience gives you a similar insight and expectations for the near future. I truly appreciate you!!

“Tsutomu Must Be Tokyo's Best Guide”
Tom is a very thoughtful and caring person. Before we began the day he took tome to understand our piorities and he ensured they were met. This included time at Tokyo Station helping us with train ticketing for later in our visit to Japan. For the sites we visited Tom took the time to explain the historical and cultural significance of each. Tom was prepared with maps and visual aids to support sharing information. During a shared lunch we enjoyed the exchange of information on a variety of topics. This helped us to have a deeper appreciation of life in Japan. But back to the beginning, Tom listened to us and ensured our needs were met. He is much more than a tour guide. My wife and i had an excellent day with Tom. J & S 7 May 2025

Good thoughts radiate. If I was able to provide good service with positive mental attitude, it was solely thanks to the warm hearts and quality personality of my guests, Joseph and Sharyn, who were very kind and thoughtful all along the way. I truly enjoyed the pleasant conversation which I was hoping that it would not end. Joseph and Sharyn, you are the very reason why I love the job of tour guiding. I hope there will be a chance when we meet again. I will be wishing nothing but the very best for you and your beautiful family. Sincerely, Tom Harada
