- The tour basically starts and ends in the foyer of your hotel. If you stay in an airbnb, the tour will starts and ends at the nearest subway/train station.
Nezu (Ya-ne-sen)
We call Yanaka, Nezu and Sendagi as Ya-ne-sen. It is a very popular area for Tokyo people as it survived the air-raids in 1945 and still has nostalgic atmosphere. Let's walk though to the area with some narrow streets to learn how Tokyo people live nowadays.
There is a Shinto Shrine dedicated to Tokugawa Shogun which was built in the 18th century. Many buildings were designated as important cultural assets. We can visit the shrine as well if you are interested in.
During the walk, we may try some local snacks. This is how I enjoy the area (optional).
Tsukishima
Tsukishima is a residential area in the waterfront of Tokyo. It also survived the air-raids in 1945. The locals go to Tsukishima to eat Okonomiyaki (savory pancake) and Monja-yaki. We may have lunch there at one of the local restaurants to see how locals enjoy the area.
Please let me know in advance in case you have dietary restriction. Both Okonomiyaki / Monja-yaki often include seafood, meat, eggs and flour.
Kagurazaka
Kagurazaka is also a residential area with one of the geisha districts in Tokyo. We have many small restaurants and shops with narrow streets. Let's walk through to see the area before we head to Shinjuku, the last destination of the tour.
Shinjuku
The tour will end in Shinjuku. Let's stroll around the area. We may stop at try some yakitori and drinks and you may also stay in the area to explore more. I will show you how to go back to your hotel before the tour ends.
Ending Point

Japanese Gardens and Tokyo Life: Bunkyo City Customized Tour
Bunkyo City is in the heart of central Tokyo, just north of Chiyoda City where the Imperial Palace and Tokyo Station are. The city is Tokyo’s typical residential and academic area where I was born, grew up, and live now. We'll move around the city with a Bunkyo City Community Bus, B-guru ( “beagle”, the mascot character of the bus), and visit Edo-Tokyo Japanese gardens and other calm and pleasant sites. You'll also catch a glimpse of Tokyo citizens’ life during the tour.

Excursion off the Beaten Track in the Suburbs of Tokyo
We will explore the western suburbs of Tokyo in this tour. If you are looking for something different from the crowded tourist attractions in the central part of Tokyo, you will enjoy exploring the western suburbs of Tokyo. I recommend this tour not to first timers but to repeaters who have been to famous places in Tokyo. You will discover traditional spots in the beautiful environment of the suburbs. Weather permitting, lunch in a local restaurant can be replaced by a picnic lunch in a park.
