Meeting Point
Toyama Station or at your hotel (near Toyama Station)
- Please let me know your preferred meeting location when booking.
Kimono Yorozuya Kanon-tei
• Our collection features silk kimonos gathered from families across Toyama Prefecture, giving each piece a unique story.
• A kimono expert with 39 years of experience will provide styling advice and help you dress in your chosen kimono.
・Please note that footwear and hair styling are not included. If you are interested in either service, please let us know before your tour. We may be able to arrange them depending on availability.
・If you are lucky, you can meet a shiba dog (Non-chan) in the store.
Walking along the Itachi river
After your kimono experience, we'll take a relaxing walk along the Itachi River, a peaceful spot loved by locals. Listening to the gentle sound of the water and enjoying the surrounding greenery offers a quiet break from busy sightseeing.
Along the way, we may stop at a charming retro-style shop for a seasonal treat. In summer, you can enjoy shaved ice, while winter visitors may have the chance to try roasted sweet potatoes. Snacks are available for approximately ¥500–¥1,000.
There is also a public drinking water station nearby, making it easy to stay refreshed during our walk. If time allows, we may even visit what is said to be one of the smallest shrines in Japan, a hidden local spot that many visitors would never find on their own.
Toyama Glass Museum
One of the city's most remarkable cultural landmarks.
Inside, you'll discover colorful contemporary glass artworks created by artists from Japan and around the world. The highlight is the Glass Art Garden, featuring breathtaking installations by world-renowned glass artist Dale Chihuly.
The museum building itself is also worth experiencing. Designed by celebrated architect Kengo Kuma, it was praised by The New York Times as "a towering cathedral of timber and light." As sunlight filters through the wooden interior, the space feels both peaceful and inspiring.
Whether you are an art lover or simply enjoy beautiful spaces, this museum offers a unique opportunity to experience Toyama's creative spirit and modern culture.
Lunch
Lunch is flexible and can be tailored to your tastes and budget.
Some of my personal recommendations include sushi, soba, ramen, Italian restaurants, and a unique local onigiri shop. Depending on the season and your interests, I can suggest places ranging from casual local favorites to more special dining experiences.
My goal is not only to show you Toyama's sights, but also to help you enjoy the food that local people love.
Iwase-hama District
Walking through Iwase in an antique kimono can feel a little like stepping back in time. The traditional buildings and slower pace make it a wonderful place to take photos and enjoy a different side of Japan.
The area is also home to popular local sweet shops and sake breweries, where you can browse local products and souvenirs. If time allows, we may also have the opportunity to visit a traditional Japanese house and experience its unique atmosphere.
Rather than a busy sightseeing destination, Iwase is a place to slow down, explore, and enjoy the character of a historic local neighborhood.
Kimono Yorozuya Kanon-tei
We will return to the kimono shop and change back into our regular clothes. After spending the day exploring Toyama in an antique kimono, this is a chance to relax and reflect on the experiences, scenery, and memories we've made throughout the day.

About Tour Guide Fumina O.
Hello! I am Fumina, and I am a Prefectural Guide Interpreter in Toyama.
I love exploring hidden places, traditional streets, local cafes, and unique spots that many tourists never discover on their own.
Besides famous attractions, I can also introduce charming neighborhoods, beautiful scenery, local sweets, matcha experiences, and places that reflect everyday life in Toyama.
My interest in guiding started when I was in high school. I had an opportunity to introduce Japanese culture in English as part of a class project, and I truly enjoyed sharing Japan with people from different backgrounds. That experience inspired me to become a guide and help visitors discover the charm of Japan for themselves.
As a local woman, I enjoy sharing Toyama from a different perspective, including photogenic locations, cozy cafes, seasonal scenery, and cultural experiences that are especially popular with travelers looking for something more personal and authentic.
I believe every traveler is different, so I always try to create a flexible and comfortable experience based on your interests, pace, and travel style.
Whether you would like to visit major attractions or discover hidden gems known mainly to locals, I would be happy to help you create memorable experiences in Toyama.
My tours are especially suitable for travelers who:
• Prefer a relaxed and flexible experience rather than a fixed schedule
• Want to discover places that are not usually found in guidebooks
• Enjoy local cafes, Japanese sweets, matcha, and everyday culture
• Love photography and beautiful scenery
• Are interested in experiencing Toyama from a local perspective
• Prefer traveling at their own pace and having a friendly local guide
