Itinerary Ideas

We introduce the most popular itineraries amongst our customers who choose tours on GoWithGuide. We hope it helps you to plan your perfect itinerary during your trip to Japan. In our fifteenth post of the series, we focus on the best half day tour of the area of Dazaifu in Fukuoka.

In this five hour itinerary, we visit the secluded area of Dazaifu, known for its history, temples, shrines, and beautiful landscapes. At Kōmyōzen-ji Temple you can experience Zen in its purest form. At Dazaifu Tenman-gū you can cleanse your mind and body by crossing bridges over a pond said to represent the mind. And at Kyushu National Museum you can learn about the prehistory of the Meiji era.

1. Kōmyōzen-ji Temple

With its unique Zen garden, Kōmyōzen-ji Temple is a place of tranquillity and beauty. Known for the only dry landscape garden in Kyushu, a mix of sand and stone surrounded by maple trees, this really is a place of relaxation. The autumn is the best time to visit, where a mix of changing leaves of various colours can be enjoyed around the garden and temple grounds.

2. Dazaifu Tenman-gū

Visit this 1,100 year old head shrine and pray to the God of Learning. People visit from all over Kyushu each year to wish for academic achievements or fortune in passing examinations, but that isn't the only reason to visit. The shrine grounds feature numerous food stalls, Japan's largest example of a purification well made from a single piece of stone, as well as a bridge that is said to cleanse the body and mind.

3. Kyushu National Museum

Opened in 2005, it is the first new National Museum to open in Japan in over 108 years; and the first to elevate the focus on history over art. It even has an on site conservation centre, the biggest in Kyushu. The museum itself focuses on prehistory to the Meiji era, and the permanent exhibition features various collections of historic artwork or fossilised ruins.

Japan

Hello, everyone! I am Yoshiharu, a national certified tour guide. Fukuoka is my birthplace, so I have a close attachment to this region. Though you may not be familiar with the name of Fukuoka, I assure you that Fukuoka will provide new discovery and pleasure to your stay in Japan. I have a passion to introduce my country and regions from many points of views. Japan is a country which offers original culture and history. On the other hand, Japan has another attractiveness represented by advanced toilets with many functions, hotels with robot receptionists and so on. The co-existing society with the image of old Japan and the present Japan with high technology definitely make Japan a more attractive place. Not only take you to sightseeing spots and give you some explanations, but also I will help you to learn much more deeply about Japan and Japanese people, their way of thinking and lifestyle. In Addition to the tour guide license, I have received the qualification of international kikisake-shi,.sake sommelier. I will do my best to make your stay in Japan more memorable in a fun way. Let’s go out for new adventures together! (NOTE) I am not a land operator. It means that I don't make reservations for vans, buses, accommodations and other things for you except I think it is indispensable for me. I can give you some advice but, for example, if you want to charter a van for your travel, please contact taxi companies and make a reservation by yourselves. If you have difficulties doing it that way, please contact GoWithGuide or land operators in Japan and your country. Thank you for your understanding.

I've lived and visited many countries such as US, Canada, France, Spain, Singapore, Australia etc. Because I'm interested in learning different cultures and languages and I love meeting people from all over the world. When I visited Vietnam, I took a private tour with a local guide. Her private tour was very unique and fun, it made my trip very special and unforgettable. I had a really good time with her. That experience made me want to be a guide in Japan. Visiting other countries and experiencing other cultures are very exciting and refreshing. There're lots of things to see and experience in Japan too. Let's enjoy and have a memorable time together! Japan

Hello, everyone!! My name is Yukihiro(行博), call me "HERO". I'm eager to introduce this unique country, Japan to foreign guests. I am not a professional interpreter. I have retired from Japan Ground Self-Defense Force(JGSDF=Japanese Army) on March 2018. I have spent most of my career as a Army NCO(Non-commissioned officer) . My job experiences are only in the military, but there are variety of specialties, so I didn't feel boredom. I lived in many places all over Japan, such as Hokkaido 10years, Chiba 15years, Okinawa 8years and more places. I am working for the half of month as a tour-conductor in Okinawa Japan. Rest of month, I live in Nagasaki Prefecture, and work as a Triple Lights interpreter tour guide. I am registered as a Okinawa prefectural interpreter tour guide (English & Chinese), but don't have a whole Japan area certification. So I am brushing my skill up to get it. I speak English, Chinese (simplify & traditional) , no problem to guide you, not like a native though.
