English is a bigger barrier than expected, especially if you plan on traveling to rural areas. A guide is a great way to practice small phrases and understand pronunciation. A JR (Japan Rail) pass comes in handy, so get one at the airport. Japan's public transport system is one of the best in the world, and a preloaded card will cut so much time while keeping you connected to the vast rail grid. Castles, shrines and a ride on Osaka’s last streetcar. Walk Osaka Castle’s giant stone walls and moats, then look down on it all from the Osaka Museum of History. After a kushikatsu lunch in retro Shinsekai, the Hankai tram takes us to Sumiyoshi Taisha and its steep red arched bridge. We end at Namba Yasaka Shrine’s giant lion-head stage and the Dotonbori canal, with a short river cruise under the neon and the Glico sign.

“An Amazing and Unforgettable Fukuoka Tour ”

We had selected Tadashi because he was our age group and had a lifetime history of Fukuoka as he was born there. We traveled to Japan to celebrate my wife's being born in Fukuoka many years ago. Tadashi did an excellent job of helping us remember the Fukuoka of 60+ years ago. He went out of the way to create a special tour for us and we will forever be grateful. After the the Fukuoka and Brady Air Base tour, we then boarded a train bound for Nanzoin Temple in Sasaguri. There he led us through the temple grounds, explaining the significance of statues, symbols and culture. Finally he presented to us the world's largest bronze statue of the Reclining Buddha! We had been to many temples and shrines during our trip to Japan but none could compare to this. Tadashi was a warm, charming person and an excellent guide. The day went by so quickly and my wife and I agree, it was THE highlight of our 2 week trip to Japan. We left having made new friends and memories. The pictures we took will always bring smiles to our faces and remind us of how lucky we were to have found Tadashi-san. Thank you Tadashi :)

“Easy day of touring for my 83 yr old mother and I ”

I organized a full day of touring in/ around Hakone for my 83 yr old mother and I with Yuki. He was wonderful to communicate with prior to arriving in Japan. Yuki gave me several options for places to visit that would accommodate my mother’s limited mobility as well as some needed travel tips. We met up with Yuki when there was a big storm passing through so we adjusted our plan - my mom had also wanted to incorporate more shopping. Yuki was so flexible, thoughtful regarding my mom’s needs, easy to be with and an excellent driver! He brought us to the volcano lookout, then to a nice local shopping area, followed by a fantastic Udon noodle lunch and last we visited a samurai exhibit at a castle. He even stopped at a 7-11 to help me choose candy to bring back to the states! Yuki was interesting to talk with/ learn about life in Japan and he speaks outstanding English as he has travelled to America many times. I would highly recommend touring with Yuki!

“Wonderful Experience!”

We had a truly wonderful time with our guide, Nao. We had three days of tours (Tokyo and Mt. Fuji) with Nao san and it was truly one of the best experiences that we have ever had as a family. Nao san is a very pleasant gentleman who is profoundly knowledgeable in all topics that would be of interest to a visitor in Japan. He is very engaging and he welcomed all questions from us. We learned so much from him. His management of the tours was comprehensive. He simplified all aspects of the tours which allowed us to enjoy the entire experience without having to worry about logistical details. He met us at our lobby every morning and expertly guided us on Japan’s complex rail and bus system, bringing us to our tours and then back to our hotel. He tailored our tours and dynamically adjusted the tours along the way to meet our changing needs and interests. He was very attentive and often did things for us that were completely unexpected. On one particular occasion, he painstakingly helped my daughter locate a unique item for purchase in a specialty store that spanned nine floors, talking to several store employees and traveling up and down stairs like someone on a special mission. He did this not because we asked him to, but because he wanted us to be happy and satisfied. He was timely, reliable and dependable. He was always well prepared and organized. He is very energetic and never seemed to show any signs of fatigue even on tours that would make most people feel exhausted. He will adjust to your pace but he is able to walk faster than most people if the tour schedule requires it. Perhaps most importantly, he took care of us in the way that a loved one or a dear friend would. Nao san is a special gentleman. It should be no surprise that we now consider him a lifelong friend and we will always treasure our experience with him. We highly recommend him to you no matter what you are interested in during your visit to Japan.
